Green was able to infiltrate Elias Voit's serial killer ring, and stealthily roped Garcia and the BAU into helping him take down Sicarius. In Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, BAU recruits Tyler as a consultant since their case with Voit is far from over despite the Unsub already now in FBI's custody.

It's curious if Green's return is somehow linked to the show delving deep into the team's history. Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is revisiting Jason Gideon's legacy by introducing his ex-wife.
