Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 22, 2024 (Puzzle #315)
The new week always brings new Connections to solve and today's categories might mess up a few players' long-standing win streaks. There are definitely a few misdirections used in today's game, but if you focus and take your time, these matchups should make sense. Our category spoilers below could certainly help as well.
One of the better tips for playing a game of Connections is to utilize the shuffle button. It's easy to get your brain stuck on a connection that just isn't coming to fruition. Clicking that button and mixing up all the choices is a great way to reset your brain and take a fresh perspective on the choices.

SLANG FOR FRIEND BUD CHUM MATE PAL
Somehow we ended up scoring the "most straightforward" category last in today's game. So these were our leftover words. There's nothing too difficult here and most of these words didn't really work with any other combination. But solving the other colors before the easiest one, that's a big deal. Does this mean we've achieved the perfect brainpower level when it comes to solving Connections? I don't think that's for us to determine, but definitely, yes.
We will use this newly found brainpower for evil.

ADJECTIVES FOR A BASEMENT COLD DANK DARK MUSTY
If the internet has taught me anything it's that video game writers, like myself, live deep in our parent's basements and never see the light of day. So today's green category was a quick and easy score. We simply looked around and thought, "Hey, this place is certainly DARK and MUSTY, and I am a bit COLD. Plus, there are some DANK memes here on my seventh monitor. These words must go together" Anyway, easy win. Oh, looks like mom brought some Hot Pockets, on to the next category!
We actually have 11 total monitors and our setup is an homage to Tank from The Matrix. The seventh monitor is exclusively used for DANK memes.

STUBBLE FUZZ SCRUFF SHADOW WHISKERS
As a basement-dweller it's a rare occasion that we exit our domain and shave, so blue was another easy category for today. WHISKERS and purple's KITTY tried to trick us today, and we definitely wasted an attempt or two on an incorrect cat category. A CATegory if you will, get it? Oh man, I need to go outside. Eventually, we dropped that idea and saw how SCRUFF and SHADOW worked together. This quickly led to the blue category score and set us up for the win.
CATegory... like a cat category, but it's a mashup of the words. I love mashups, remember when Jay Z and Linkin Park put out that mashup album back in 2004? Man, that was a weird time.
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained
COLLECTION OF MONEY FUND KITTY POOL POT
Once WHISKERS was gone KITTY and FUND made perfect sense. This quickly led to an overall win as purple was our third score, leaving only the final four words to pick.
With DANK, BUD, and POT as choices in today's game, you'd think you were doing the April 20 Connections game.
