Genshin Impact 4.6 Leaks Prove The Newest Villain Isn't What They Seem

Recent Genshin Impact 4.6 leaks are proving that the game’s newest villain is not exactly what they seem to be. Version 4.6 is the next big patch for HoYoverse’s popular RPG and will add loads of new playable content. This includes new areas, new story missions, new bosses, and one new character in Genshin Impact 4.6, who has long been awaited by the community: Arlecchino. As a Fatui Harbinger, the Knave is part of an antagonistic faction. She is, however, not as villainous as she presents herself. In fact, Arlecchino’s principles are in the right place.

Just a few days before the release of the patch itself, some content was leaked. Information obtained by Project Amber, shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit showcases Arlecchino’s voicelines about her fellow Fatui Harbingers. She has mixed opinions about most of her colleagues, but one of them stands out. Regarding Dottore, the villain that players meet during the Sumeru storyline, Arlecchino mentions that he has proposed collaborating with his experiments, though she rejected the offer. In addition, Arlecchino in Genshin Impact even says that she has a desire to eliminate him altogether.

The desire to take Dottore out of the equation is actually understandable. Among the Fatui Harbingers and their villainous inclinement, Dottore is one of the most vile ones. He is known for his experimentation on other humans and that is made abundantly clear because he tortured and abused Collei, to the point she is traumatized even touching hands with other people. In Arlecchino’s leaked voiceline before her release, she mentions that Dottore wanted to collaborate with her to get test subjects from her orphanage, the House of the Hearth in Genshin Impact.

Arlecchino also reveals through this voiceline that he and the previous Knave used to collaborate in such a manner. This obviously upsets Arlecchino, as she says she would have killed Dottore, like she did the previous Knave. While her methods and desire for capital punishment can be questionable, her opposition of Dottore and his experiments further proves that she is not entirely evil. This had already been somewhat exemplified in the Song Burning in the Embers animated short film posted on the official Genshin Impact channel on YouTube.

The video is a backstory for Arlecchino, showing how she grew up in the House of the Hearth under the tutelage of the previous Knave. It also highlights how vile the previous Knave was, going so far as to sacrifice her own daughter if that meant the remaining party was the strongest child – and how much she masked that evil with a kind demeanor. After eliminating the previous Knave, Arlecchino took over the helm of the House of the Hearth.

Contrary to her predecessor, she is a harsh “Father” who actually cares about her children in Genshin Impact.

Combining the information revealed through the official video with Arlecchino’s leaked voicelines, it is obvious that, despite her violent nature – a direct result of her surroundings and upbringing – she cares dearly about those she protects and considers her children. Arlecchino can, at times, even be cruel to those who harm her loved ones, but she is directly against the type of cruelty imposed by Dottore against innocents. With such an alignment, it is clear that Arlecchino is less of a villain in Genshin Impact and more of an anti-hero archetype.

This is also, likely, what allowed her to become a fully playable character. So far, outright villains in the game have not yet become playable. The Fatui Harbingers Childe and Arlecchino, as well as the former Harbinger Wanderer are the closest ones to those roles. Nevertheless, despite their previous evil deeds and their alliances, they all have this type of anti-hero build. Arlecchino’s release is also more proof she is not a villain. The character is making her debut in Version 4.6 and may be starting what will be a change to team comps in Genshin Impact forever.
