The Golden Bachelorette Casting Notice Gets Mixed Reactions After Gerry & Theresa’s Divorce

Summary Fans of The Golden Bachelor have mixed feelings about The Golden Bachelorette, divided over whether it's too soon after Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's divorce for the show to air.

The Golden Bachelorette casting call for senior men looking for love has been met with both excitement and skepticism.

The Golden Bachelorette should continue as planned.

The Golden Bachelorette is now casting senior men who are looking for love, but it's getting mixed reactions from fans, some of whom are excited about the show, and others who think it's too soon after The Golden Bachelor's Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's divorce to begin a new series. Gerry and Theresa got married on January 4, 2024, during the Golden Wedding. However, on April 12, 2024, they announced that they're getting a divorce. Although fans were initially thrilled about The Golden Bachelorette season 1, now some are skeptical about whether the show should happen at all.

In an Instagram post, Bachelor Nation shared the casting call for The Golden Bachelorette, which says that the show is now casting senior men looking for love. The Golden Bachelorette lead hasn't been announced yet.

While some fans are still excited about the spin-off, others are more jaded. Instagram user @dianecampbell2172 said, "I think they best wait a bit. We r recovering from the divorce," while @lisaamac2 wrote, "Probably not the best timing for this...." In addition, many fans agreed that they'd rather watch another season of Bachelor in Paradise, which is rumored to be on hold for The Golden Bachelorette.

Should ABC Delay The Golden Bachelorette?

Although it's understandable that some fans aren't ready for The Golden Bachelorette after their disappointment due to Gerry and Theresa's divorce, ABC definitely shouldn't delay the spin-off dating series. One show really has nothing to do with the other, even if the Golden Bachelorette lead comes from Gerry's season. Just because Gerry and Theresa couldn't figure out where to live after the show because neither one of them wanted to leave their families, doesn't mean that the Golden Bachelorette will have the same problem. In fact, the show can learn from this mistake, and be proactive so that it isn't repeated.

Clayton Echard's Bachelor season was a trainwreck, which led to the disaster of Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia's dual Bachelorette season. However, Zach Shallcross' season followed theirs, and he's now engaged to Kaity Biggar. In addition, Charity Lawson and Joey Graziadei's seasons came after Zach's, and they're both engaged to Dotun Olubeko and Kelsey Anderson, respectively. This proves that just because one season fails, it doesn't mean that the next one will also end in heartache.

Although The Golden Bachelor marriage ended in divorce, it gave viewers an inspiring journey along the way that renewed people's hope in the possibility of finding love at any age. Fans should still cherish those memories. Now a senior woman deserves to have the same experience. Not only will it be a great love story, but it'll be groundbreaking to see a woman in her 60s or 70s take the lead of a dating show. The Golden Bachelorette is important for women, and ABC should definitely continue with its plans because it will most likely be another big hit.

The Golden Bachelorette airs in 2024 on ABC.
