No Rest For The Wicked Roadmap: Updates To Expect In Early Access
Summary No Rest for the Wicked offers a blend of Diablo-style ARPGs and soulslikes, but is still a work-in-progress as an early access title.
Planned updates include multiplayer, new areas for story content, equipment, enemies, and even farming elements.
Developer Moon Studios is actively addressing launch issues through hotfixes and is collecting feedback for future improvements.
No Rest for the Wicked is a fascinating new blend of Diablo-style ARPGs and soulslikes, but it's also a game that could use some improvements at the moment. With a gorgeous art style and fluid, expressive animations, No Rest for the Wicked is certainly attention-grabbing. As an early access release, however, it's a work-in-progress rather than a finished product, and its future should be focused on polishing what's currently there and adding new features on top of it.
It's fairly common practice for early access releases to be guided by public roadmaps, which help assure fans that the developers have concrete plans for improvements and offer something to latch onto in terms of a timeline. Solidifying a roadmap at the beginning of the early access period can be difficult, however, and there always needs to be room to adapt to community response. Problems that initially seem minor could end up becoming major prerogatives, and feedback about what new features would contribute the most to the game can help guide a better path to a full release.
Multiplayer & More Story Content Are Coming Next
No Rest for the Wicked doesn't yet have a detailed roadmap with dates for improvements, but it does have a basic one, along with some other information about planned updates in the future. As reported by Game Informer, the "Wicked Inside" presentation held for the game in March laid out a basic look at what can be expected from early access, including the first two major updates.
The first significant addition expected for No Rest For the Wicked is a multiplayer update, which should make it possible to venture forth into the game's hostile world with several friends. Both four-player co-op and an arena-based PvP mode are planned, both of which should presumably debut together. At any rate, the roadmap shows an image of the arena for Update 1, so PvP arriving at that point in time is essentially confirmed.

Update 2, according to the roadmap, is The Breach, which should be the story update that adds more areas to the game. The setting of Isola Sacra isn't complete as of the game's early access launch, currently featuring five zones starting with a beach area where the protagonist washes ashore. The next three to come are Marin Woods, Lowland Meadows, and Hunter's Vale, and if the game so far is anything to go by, they're likely to be beautifully evocative and engaging.
The currently available No Rest for the Wicked areas are The Shallows, Orban Glades, Sacrament, Nameless Pass, and The Black Trench.
Other Confirmed Plans For No Rest For The Wicked
Enemies, Equipment, & Even Farming In The Future
Close
Beyond these two updates, the future of No Rest for the Wicked gets a lot more nebulous, with an "And Beyond" category simply referring to "further updates." The Steam page for the game does elaborate more on plans, however, even if there's no clear timeline on when they can be expected. Aside from what's confirmed by the roadmap, more equipment is expected across the board, including weapons and armor. New enemies should fill out the expanded regions and story content coming in the Breach and beyond.
No Rest for the Wicked also has a challenging roguelike dungeon mode called Cerim's Crucible, which can be accessed after completing the campaign mode to its current availability; this will be getting more floors, Bounties, and Challenges in the future. The most off-the-wall addition currently confirmed is farming, which plays into the game's survival and resource management elements, but is nonetheless a surprising inclusion for an ARPG.

No Rest For The Wicked Bug Fixes & Patches
Launch Problems Are In The Process Of Being Addressed
At the moment, the team's attention seems to be on fixing active problems revealed by the early access launch, with a couple of hotfixes releasing in the two days following its launch. The first one made balance tweaks that mostly minimized punishment directed at the players, making the challenging game a bit easier on the whole, and fixed a crash and several bugs. The second made tweaks to loot, crafting, enemy spawns, and a couple of combat encounters, along with more balance changes and bug fixes.
One other change that can be expected soon is the addition of controller remapping, which is mentioned in the first hotfix as a work in progress alongside performance improvements.
No Rest for the Wicked's second hotfix also made some much-needed performance improvements, as the game can be extremely demanding even on mid- to high-end systems. Screen Rant's preview of the game in March showcased some significant performance struggles that were improved before the early access launch, but even after fixes, the game still had a ways to go. The newer tweaks should provide further help, but holding off for a while might still be wise for those without impressive PC rigs.
Developer Moon Studios is currently collecting feedback and bug reports through the forums on the official No Rest For The Wicked website, which also has a pinned post keeping track of known issues at the moment and any workarounds that can help. There's a lot of activity on the forums right now, and it clearly won't be hard for Moon Studios to rack up a long list of problems to target. The fast pace of hotfixes set so far is promising, however, and larger patches could potentially be added into the mix at a slower rate.
When No Rest for the Wicked eventually leaves early access, it's also set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. No timeline has yet been clarified for how long the game might spend in active development before reaching that 1.0 release, but it's best to assume that it could take a while. For now, No Rest for the Wicked players can expect to see continued fixes for the game, a multiplayer update, and an expansion of the campaign content before other additions eventually arrive.
