One-Punch Man Reveals Its Most Broken Technique

One-Punch Man Reveals Its Most Broken Technique

Summary Empty Void possesses a space-manipulating ability that could evade even Saitama's strongest punches in One-Punch Man.

Saitama may struggle to find a way to defeat Empty Void, posing a significant challenge for the Hero Association as well.

The upcoming arc featuring Empty Void promises to be one of the most intense and unpredictable in One-Punch Man history.

Warning: Spoilers for the redrawn version of chapter #195 (JP) of One-Punch Man

One-Punch Man is iconic for its simple premise, featuring Saitama as the most overpowered protagonist, but one broken ability may help one villain, the ninja leader Empty Void, stand to challenge him. Blast's former partner has showcased the power to bend space on a universal level, literally grabbing the sky to avoid an attack and disappear.

Yusuke Murata's manga adaptation has done well in scaling up the monstrous threats, but it's difficult to predict how this new enemy will be handled. But with a title like One-Punch Man, readers have a reasonable guess already, but there's reasonable doubt this time about.

Saitama's journey to find fulfillment as a hero has led to some epic fights, such as his bouts against Boros and Orochi. However, recent monster threats, such as in the Monster Association Arc, indeed showed the might of a God-level threat, with more to come soon. The latest villain is suggested to have an ability that could negate even the most potent Serious Punch thrown by Saitama in One-Punch Man.

One-Punch Man has two chapter numbering systems, one based on those published in the volumes and one based on the online chapters. There are discrepancies between the numbering due to redrawn chapters and merges/splits. Tonari, the magazine publishing One-Punch Man online, has another type of chapter numbering which increases with every update.

Empty Void May Have a Busted Answer to Saitama's Strength

Blast's Former Partner Avoids Harm With a Broken Technique

Close

Empty Void can manipulate space around him to dodge direct hits and stay unharmed in One-Punch Man. His abilities were always related to space and dimensional manipulation as the #1 hero Blast's partner. However, this means he could hypothetically evade a deadly blow from Saitama, something even Garou could never do. This catapults Void to the top of the characters to watch in One-Punch Man, even if it prompts questions about how somebody can handle this villain.

First shown in a flashback from Chapter 195's redrawn pages or Chapter 242 in Tonari's numbering, Empty Void demonstrates this ability instantly after absorbing the cosmic rays from Saitama and Garou's fight. What is most absurd about this scene is that Empty Void seems to grab the starred sky itself, showing a level of space manipulation on a universal scale. Void's abilities can grow further as he recovers, which he proves later by using the Dimension Slash to decimate the Hero Association, thwarted only by Blast's quick intervention.

Will Empty Void Pose a Real Challenge to Saitama in One-Punch Man?

Their Fight Was Incredibly Disappointing in the Webcomic

For Saitama, this could present the most elusive and deadly threat yet, as Void could nullify Saitama's power by warping space around him. Of course, Garou had some absurd powers too, and they only motivated Saitama to grow further. It's also important to note that Void grabbing the sky could be a result of his illusion (genjutsu) abilities, which have already been displayed in one of the yet-to-be-redrawn chapters.

Saitama has still shown he can punch through dimensions, and even time, so it's unlikely that Empty Void will cause a real problem for him. However, this retcon could finally fix one of the most disappointing fights from the webcomic, giving Empty Void at least a chance to show his powers. In some ways, this perfect evasion technique is an excellent answer to Saitama's broken abilities in One-Punch Man.
