Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell has teased what to expect from the end of season 3, saying its curtain call will hint at which couple season 4 will be focused on. The upcoming batch of episodes will be centered around the romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, something that has been hinted at ever since season 1. They will be the third primary couple to have the spotlight in the series, which will feature at least one more couple thanks to its early season 4 renewal.

Speaking with TV Insider, Brownell - who replaces Chris Van Dusen as showrunner - revealed how the end of Bridgerton season 3 will offer a hint as to who the main couple will be in season 4. While the showrunner didn't reveal which couple the next season would focus on, she did confirm viewers would know by the end of season 3. Check out what Brownell had to say below:

That’s a good question. You have asked this question in a very crafty way because you just asked me what Season 4 is going to be. I won’t give you anything, but I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed. So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit.

Which Couple Will Bridgerton Season 4 Focus On?

Every season of the historical romance drama has had a different couple in the lead, with season 1 focused on Daphne and Simon, while season 2 was about Anthony and Kate. Both seasons told stories full of dramatic twists and turns, alongside the blooming love between the core couples focused on. While the rest of the ensemble cast also had their chance to shine throughout the story, the core couples in each season act as anchors for the show, while also allowing for deeper growth for those particular characters.

With Colin and Penelope Bridgerton season 3's focus, it rules out the couple from having an even wider scope revealed about their relationship in season 4. The remaining siblings that are likely to be the next focus would be Benedict, Eloise, or Francesca, with the first two mentioned more likely given their more prominent appearances in the story so far. Since season 3 has yet to air, it's unclear which of the siblings is going to be the next star of the show. However, it's clear the upcoming episodes will set the stage for their prominence.

Either character has a strong case for being the show's next romantic focus. However, the truth of who's next will only be revealed once season 3 is complete.

Bridgerton season 3 arrives on Netflix in two parts. Part 1 comes out on May 16, 2024, while Part 2 arrives on June 13, 2024.
