In a shocking turn of events, the Oscar-winning cult musical comedy The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is getting a sequel with the original cast and director returning. Released in 1994, the Australian film follows three drag queens who rev up the eponymous bus and set out across the Outback from Sydney to Alice Springs. Along the way, the band of performers meet friendly faces and not-so-friendly faces, and go on a journey of discovery. Helping to introduce positive LGBTQ+ representation to the mainstream, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was a groundbreaking sleeper hit.
Screening at the Cannes Film Festival and even scoring an Oscar win for its costume design, the film immediately became a cult classic in its native Australia and beyond and is firmly entrenched in '90s pop culture.
