Warning! Spoilers ahead for Harley Quinn #39!Batman might be one of the DC Universe's greatest heroes, but Robin has a special ability that the Dark Knight will never be able to master. While responding to Harley Quinn's latest escapade, an insight reveals the one special skill the Boy Wonder possesses that his mentor just can't replicate.
In Harley Quinn #39 by Tini Howard and Natacha Bustos, Harley Quinn is continuing her new mission to help villains be their best selves in crime and has picked Maxie Zeus as her next subject. After getting Maxie on board, the two hit a Greek play in the park to get Zeus' confidence back.
Things are going well at first. Unfortunately, Robin shows up to stop Maxie Zeus, immediately triggering the villain Harley is also panicking, noting that while the young hero probably won't seriously hurt Maxie, Robin could certainly shatter Zeus' confidence like many young people can.
Robin's True Power is Undermining Villains' Confidence
Harley Quinn has been finding herself lately and after a trip across the multiverse, Harley came to the conclusion of what she really wants to do. Harley decided to return to villainy, but not to simply engage in random acts of chaos. Wanting to return to her psychiatric roots, Harley decided to study Gotham's villains to see if she could use her skills to help villains do what they do in a more positive and mentally healthy way. Harley Quinn's first mission was a success as she helped the criminal duo Body Doubles overcome their issues while working together.
Robin was trained by Batman and can fight and solve mysteries just as well as him (Tim can arguably do the latter better than Bruce). But generally, there's nothing the Boy Wonder can do that Batman can't. Except, that is, undermine the confidence of villains with pointed words and observations. They say kids can be cruel, and the eternally youthful Tim always has a zinger lined up to add a little insult to injury when he and the Dark Knight take on a villain. But Batman simply can't match Robin when it comes to utterly devastating villain's egos.
Robin's Special Skill Aids His Crime-Fighting
Though trained by one of the best fighters in the DCU, Robins are always younger and nowhere near as experienced as Batman. While the Boy Wonder can't hit as hard as the Dark Knight, he makes up for it with barbs that throw villains off their game while he engages in combat. It's an effective way of playing with people's heads (and has a serious effect on villains like Maxie Zeus). Sure, maybe it's not a power like super-speed or flight, but Batman will never be able to damage a supervillain's spirit with just a few words like Robin.
Harley Quinn #39 is available now from DC Comics.
