Below Deck star Captain Lee Rosbach’s exit from the show was shocking and even more surprising is the crew member he wishes he hadn’t fired. Captain Lee was a mainstay of the reality TV show since its debut in 2013. He gained a large fan following thanks to his no-nonsense attitude and sharp one-liners. Captain Lee is the longest serving captain on the show, with the “Stud Of The Sea” having stolen many hearts by giving advice or with his dry sense of humor. Captain Lee disembarked from Below Deck after 10 seasons at sea.

“But there’s only one person that I fired and I did regret it."

Captain Lee got candid during a recent interview where he revealed the one person he still regrets firing during his time on Below Deck. Captain Lee joined the Thursday, April 25, 2024, episode of T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach‘s “Amy and T.J.” podcast where he made his shocking confession. Captain Lee said that everyone he fired “deserved it.” He recalled having fired the most number of people in a season in Below Deck season 4. He added that Andrew Sturby from season 2 is the cast member he regrets firing but “not for the reasons” one might think.

Captain Lee revealed that Andrew had “embellished” his resume. Captain Lee remembered Andrew being “such a nice kid” and that he was trying very hard to excel in his career. However, Captain Lee believes that Andrew wasn’t going to get it “in a million years.” According to Captain Lee, one needs to have to get things in order to function on a mega yacht. Captain Lee believes that Andrew had a good heart. While he told Andre that he was “too much of a risk” and that he didn’t have time to train him, he meant, “If I had a million years, you would never get it."

Interestingly, Captain Lee still stands by all his other Honor firings even though he wishes that Andrew could have been spared from what happened.

Andrew’s is the only firing that Captain Lee actually regrets. Andrew was given a chance to prove himself despite him revealing to Captain Lee that he had lied on his resume. However, Captain Lee had to fire him when things didn’t work out. “There were quite a few that I enjoyed and I really did,” he admitted. Captain Lee confessed that he finds it gratifying to be able to “dish out” to some people who desperately deserve what’s coming for them. He doesn’t feel bad about “one iota” for these crew members.

Captain Lee himself has recently revealed that leaving Below Deck wasn’t his decision. Captain Lee was fired from the show. He did not reveal why it happened, but it is believed that some of his medical issues may have contributed to his exit from the franchise. Captain Lee did not see it coming. He was told to leave because the show was going to move in a new direction. However, Captain Lee has maintained that he would go back if he were never needed back on the show.
