No Rest For The Wicked: How To Beat Warrick the Torn (Boss Fight)

Warrick the Torn is the first boss fight in No Rest for the Wicked. Despite being your first significant challenge, Warrick is an immense and literal gatekeeper to the next phase. This Risen monstrosity may initially seem daunting, but he is certainly beatable.

Warrick the Torn appears after the prologue shipwreck scene shortly after freeing Fillmore, the blacksmith. Up until this point in the early access of In No Rest For The Wicked, enemies consisted entirely of bandits, but Warrick provides an entirely new challenge. With lightning-fast speed and wide, sweeping attacks, this boss fight requires preparation and strategy.

How To Beat Warrick The Torn In No Rest For The Wicked

Even as the first boss, Warrick the Torn ranks among the fastest in No Rest for the Wicked. Thankfully, Warrick has long wind-up times that give you ample opportunity to dodge but ensure that you have a lightweight class going in to conserve your stamina. The window for the offense on Warwick is relatively small, with the boss only being vulnerable after he finishes an attack. First, you should keep your distance and familiarize yourself with his attack rotation.

Dodging and getting in shots should be your first priority in this fight, but parrying can make this fight go by much faster. Given how fast Warrick releases his attacks, parrying can be challenging but well worth the trouble of learning his attack pattern.

Parrying immediately staggers Warrick and leaves far more room to deal bursts of damage at a time. It's best to wait for the Risen's close-range strikes to attempt a parry, as both his long-range and jumping attacks are almost impossible to block or parry.

How To Prepare For Warrick the Torn

Warrick the Torn is a difficult boss fight in No Rest for the Wicked, but it can be made significantly better by taking a couple of precautions before stepping into the boss' arena. First, saving at the nearby Cerim Whisper is important, as this is a close respawn point.

Next, use Fillmore and the campfire, which can be found directly next to your respawn point. Fillmore can give low-level upgrades and repair your gear, while the campfire is essential to crafting healing recipes.

Be sure to assign Oils, Potions, Recipes, and all other supplemental items to your quick bar, as Warrick the Torn certainly won't give you time to open your inventory mid-fight.

Blade Oils and Potions are also extremely useful in navigating this fight. Given how few opportunities you have to get in strikes, increasing your damage even a little can go a long way. Bombs and Flamescale Oil are great ways to deal with persistent damage over time, and Fillmore conveniently sells both.

Light weapons, such as a sword and shield, are far better than heavy, two-handed weapons with much slower swings. This is a challenging boss fight, and you should be prepared to die several times, but experience and precaution will make your clash against Warrick in No Rest for the Wicked much smoother.
