Everything Wheel Of Time's Confirmed Season 3 Locations Reveal About The Story

Summary Perrin's next adventure will take him back to Two Rivers for a battle with the Whitecloaks and the Trollocs.

Rhuidean's debut in season 3 hints at a possible ending showdown between Rand and Asmodean.

Tanchico sets up Nynaeve and Elayne's fight with Moghedien, a key arc in The Shadow Rising.

Confirmed locations for The Wheel of Time season 3 offer several clues about the stories the show has in store for viewers. The next season of Prime Video's live-action adaptation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series is confirmed to bring the fourth installment, The Shadow Rising, to the small screen. However, that's not to say it'll be an exact retelling of Jordan's novel.

When considering what's to come, it's important to note that The Wheel of Time has yet to adapt book 3, The Dragon Reborn, meaning some of its events may be featured as well. Not only that, but key narratives from the first two books - The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt - were skipped over, with Rand's experience in Caemlyn, the visit to an Ogier stedding, and the alternate world being among the biggest omissions. For these reasons, there are few guarantees about The Wheel of Time season 3's story. That said, setup and other comments offer some assurances about the show's upcoming storylines.

Wheel Of Time's Return To Two Rivers Confirms Perrin's Next Adventure

Two Rivers was in Wheel of Time's first episode

Confirmed details about The Wheel of Time season 3 from Prime Video erase any doubts about where Perrin is headed once he leaves Falme. Named alongside other key book locations, Two Rivers was listed as a place season 3 would visit at New York Comic Con 2023. There's no mystery as to why the home of the main characters will appear again, as Two Rivers is the main setting of Perrin's arc in The Shadow Rising. The book sees Perrin (accompanied by Loial and a few others) return home for a battle with Whitecloaks and Trollocs. His stay there results in a team-up with Tam al'Thor, who helps rally the villagers against their attackers.

Though The Wheel of Time season 2 ends before Perrin gets a chance to name his destination, there were already strong hints that he'd spending time in the Two Rivers soon. Whereas his book counterpart had to go on a long journey to Tear in search of Rand, it looks like Perrin will have to go back home to protect his fellow villagers now that the Whitecloaks have a reason to hate him. As Dain Bornhald's consistent use of the "Two Rivers" nickname for Perrin makes clear, the Whitecloaks are well aware of his origins and have an easy way to lure him out if they want to avenge Geofram's death.

Rhuidean's Upcoming Debut Hints At Season 3's Ending

Rhudiean could become one of the show's most ambitious set pieces

Another season 3 location name-dropped by Jenkins is Rhuidean, a city in the Aiel Waste. With The Wheel of Time possibly being forced to combine The Shadow Rising and The Dragon Reborn into one season, there were questions about what its endgame would be and how far in the narrative the story could reach. But with Rhuidean confirmed, the roadmap for season 3 becomes a bit more clear. After all, Rhudiean is where the trek across the Aiel Waste leads in The Shadow Rising. It's also where Rand fights Asmodean, meaning that this particular showdown could be how season 3 ends.

The lead-up to Rhuidean is likely to offer a deep dive into Aiel culture. Over the course of his adventure across the Aiel Waste, Rand learns quite a lot about their customs and practices. With the show promising more details about the Aiel, it would seem that the show is ready to take the same course. That fits with the setup in the Wheel of Time season 2 finale, which ended with Aviendha identifying Rand as the Car'a'carn, the legendary warrior destined to unite the Aiel. Her discovery should lead to Rand traveling with her and gaining new insight into the Aiel, his heritage, and his place in their legends.

Tanchico Sets Up Nynaeve & Elayne Fighting Moghedien

Tanchico is where the Sea Folk live

Close

If the show were to follow the books, Elayne and Nynaeve would go from Falme to the White Tower, to Tear, and then to Tanchico, a coastal city and the capital of Tarabon. With the show set to jump into The Shadow Rising, what trajectory their story would take was uncertain, but confirmation that Tanchico is among season 3's new locations helps clear that up. From the looks of things, The Wheel of Time will find a way to avoid or quickly speed through their exploits in The Dragon Reborn to focus on their activities in The Shadow Rising, which take place in Tanchico.

As for what that arc will entail, The Shadow Rising's story points to Nynaeve and Elayne facing off with Moghedien. Moghedien debuting as the show's third live-action member of the 13 Forsaken in Wheel of Time in the season 2 finale all but confirms that she'll be the villain of Nynaeve and Elayne's season 3 arc. As for Thom Merrilin and Juilin Sandar, who were allies to Nynaeve and Elayne in Tanchico, it's hard to say if either character will be involved in Wheel of Time's take on the fight with Moghedien.

Wheel Of Time Season 3's White Tower Story Makes Siuan Sanche's Downfall Likely To Happen Soon

The Wheel of Time will head back to the White Tower, even if Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene aren't there

Despite none of the Wheel of Time's main protagonists being in Tar Valon in The Shadow Rising, the White Tower will be the focus of at least one season 3 arc. Prime Video has promised to further its exploration of "the politics" of the White Tower, which is a sign that viewers won't have to wait much longer to find out what happened to Siuan Sanche after she failed to stop Rand and Moiraine from leaving Cairhien. While she's not exactly one of the protagonists, it does look like she or another Aes Sedai will get a share of the spotlight in season 3.

That's not surprising, considering that season 2 did something similar with Verin after Nynaeve and Elayne's disappearance. In The Shadow Rising, only a small amount of time was devoted to events within the White Tower, which culminated in Siuan being stilled. While that fact could have justified season 3 sidelining its Tar Valon characters, that doesn't look to be the case after all. Giving them significant attention can be to the benefit of the story, as it'll allow The Wheel of Time to highlight how the Dragon's sudden return has personally impacted their lives and roles as Aes Sedai.
