Lizzie Prince will become Trinity, but her time as Wonder Girl will shape her into the hero fans know she will become.

While Wonder Woman is one of the world’s greatest heroes, her allies and protégés make up one of DC’s strongest superhero families. In any era, an important member of that family will always be fighting the good fight as Wonder Girl. And a new look into the life of the future leader of the Justice League – Diana’s daughter, Lizzie Prince – reveals that she’s the next hero in line to take up the mantle.

The “World’s Finest Part 5” backup by Tom King and Belén Ortega in the pages of Wonder Woman #8 sees young Lizzie use a Time Sphere to travel to ancient Japan. Greeting a local samurai in hopes of interviewing him for a school report, Lizzie says, "Anyway, pleasure to meet you. I’m Wonder Girl. For now."

In an instantly iconic new Wonder Girl uniform, Lizzie manages to both muddle and restore the time stream. But the confirmation of Trinity's Wonder Girl identity is one revelation fans have really been waiting for, giving clarity to her path as a hero.

Since her debut, fans have known that Lizzie Prince would one day grow up to become an adult hero known as Trinity alongside Jon Kent’s Superman and Damian Wayne’s Batman. But her path towards becoming that hero has been shrouded in speculation. These “World’s Finest” backups have provided more context for just who Lizzie Prince is, as well as how she fits within the larger DC Universe around her, so to learn that she will one day become Wonder Girl makes perfect sense when considering her ultimate fate as Trinity.

Lizzie Prince will ultimately become Trinity, but it’s clear that her time as Wonder Girl will help shape her into the hero that fans know she will become.

Not only does the Wonder Girl identity help contextualize Lizzie’s growth into Trinity, but it also bonds her to Jon and Damian, and to the other members of the Wonder Family. Donning the mantle intrinsically links her to those who were Wonder Girl before her, like Donna Troy, Cassie Sandsmark, and Yara Flor, but stepping up as Diana’s protégée puts her in the same situation as her “brothers.” Being a sidekick to Wonder Woman must be stressful, but doing so while also living as that hero’s heir adds a different pressure that Jon and Damian can understand.

Lizzie Prince will ultimately become Trinity, but it’s clear that her time as Wonder Girl will help shape her into the hero that fans know she will become. With the legacy of one of DC's greatest heroes of all time hanging over her head, the young Prince truly has a lot to live up to and bears a burden that only a handful of her fellow heroes can understand. And while Lizzie has yet to debut in the current timeline, it’s clear that Wonder Woman's legacy is in good hands – at least once Lizzie is done being Wonder Girl.
