Superman’s Son Is Completely Missing from a Major Family Event - Here’s Why
Summary Superman's family has been abducted by Brainiac, leading Superman to team up with Lobo to track him down and save them.
Superman's son Jon is working with the Titans, showing that Metropolis doesn't need multiple Kryptonians to protect it.
Joining the Titans allows Jon to make a bigger impact on the world and stand out among DC's Kryptonian heroes.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Superman #13!One of the worst events to hit Metropolis has just happened, but one notable member of the Superman family is nowhere to be found. While the Man of Steel embarks on a crusade to save his loved ones, he reveals just where his son Jon is and what it could mean for his future.
In Superman #13 by Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval, Superman is seeing red after his entire family has been abducted by Brainiac. Superman tracks down Lobo at a bar and convinces the Czarnian to join him to track down Brainiac and save the Super-Family.
After Superman persuades Lobo, Clark returns to Lois to inform her of his mission. Lois expresses doubts, but Superman reminds her that the Earth still has heroes to look after it. In addition to Power Girl and Steel, the Earth still has Superman and Lois' son Jon, who is currently on a mission with the Titans.
Superman Jon Kent is Working with the Titans
Brainiac has been studying the Earth since the Dawn of DC began and after months of experimenting and testing, he finally pulled the trigger on his greatest attack yet. The Coluan menace attacked Metropolis with an army of Czarnians like Lobo and almost instantly overwhelmed the Superman Family. Brainiac didn't come to kill, but to collect, and bottled every metahuman and person with powers so that he could study them as part of his research into Earth's uncommonly large metahuman population. As the dust from the attack settled, Superman plotted a way to get his family back.
Superman’s son working with the Titans shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans. After all, he worked with the team during the recent “Beast World” crossover, helping the Titans deal with the chaos caused by the Garro spores. While it does seem odd to not include Jon in an event that sees almost the entire Superman Family, the truth is that Metropolis doesn’t need that many Kryptonians. Someone with the younger Superman's level of power can be far more useful than he currently is by working with the DC Universe’s current premier superhero team.
Superman's Son Joining the Titans is the Perfect Place for Him
The Titans have filled the void left by the Justice League and are acting as the world’s leading group of heroes. While the team hasn’t pushed for new members just yet, they’ve been open to other heroes joining, such as Swamp Thing. Since Clark returned to Earth last year, Jon has been a bit redundant by being limited to operating in Metropolis. However, by working with the Titans, Superman’s son can do some serious good for the world and find a path that helps him stand out among DC’s Kryptonian heroes.
Superman #13 is available now from DC Comics.
