Tracker Sets This Is Us Reunion For Star Justin Hartley
Summary Jennifer Morrison's addition to Tracker brings a familiar face for fans of This Is Us and promises an emotional and gripping finale.
Morrison's role as an old family friend of Colter Shaw adds layers and nuance to the show, enhancing the dynamic and chemistry on-screen.
The Tracker team's commitment to creating a satisfying conclusion with Morrison's involvement showcases their dedication to delivering compelling storytelling.
Justin Hartley will enjoy a reunion for the finale of his new action-drama series Tracker, as a former This Is Us co-star joins the cast. The show, based on the Jeffrey Deaver novel 'The Never Game' focuses on Colter Shaw, a survivalist and tracker who helps law enforcement and private citizens in exchange for money. The 10-episode first season is currently airing on CBS, and scored an early renewal, with Tracker season 2 greenlit in March 2024.
Tracker features an ensemble cast, including Supernatural and The Boys actor Jensen Ackles, and Collider has confirmed that another big name star will appear in the show, in the form of Jennifer Morrison. The Once Upon a Time and How I Met Your Mother actor worked with Hartley on the hit NBC drama This Is Us, where she played the role of Cassidy Sharp, a friend and former love interest of Hartley's character Kevin Pearson. Morrison will join Tracker for the finale episode, as an old family friend of Colter's. Check out Hartley's comments on the matter below:
I’ll give you a little tidbit, in the finale, we have Jennifer Morrison coming on to play a key role. I haven’t worked with her since This Is Us , and she comes on as an old family friend of Colter’s, from way back when they were kids. And so, that whole family dynamic leaks out a little bit through her experience with him in the finale. So, there’s that. I probably wasn’t supposed to tell you that, but it’s all good."
How Will The Addition Of Morrison Improve The Dynamic Of The Show?
The fact that Morrison already has an existing working relationship with Hartley, and has played a character friendly with him in the past, should provide a good deal of chemistry for the finale episode. The two stars will connect on-screen for the first time in two years, and Morrison's appearance provides some more star power to wind down the first season, as the writing team plan for Tracker season 2.
Whilst the character Morrison will play in the Tracker finale is unknown, it is clear that her involvement is going to present a multi-layered character, with a strong link to Colter, and an actress of her caliber will be sure to bring plenty of layers and nuance to the show. The addition of Morrison is a fun Easter Egg for fans of This Is Us, and also shows a commitment by the Tracker team to create the most gripping and emotionally satisfying finale possible.
Tracker has had obvious Reacher comparisons, and the show provides excellent appeal for fans of well-constructed action dramas. But the show is also seemingly looking to connect on an emotional level, with storylines focused on Colter's estranged family, deep-running friendships, and on-screen chemistry. How much of a role Morrison might play in later seasons remains to be seen, but there's no doubting that her addition to Tracker is going to give greater depth and weight to the show's storylines.
