"Plan 99": The Bad Batch Writer Gives The Most Ominous Tease Ahead Of The Finale

Summary The Bad Batch's finale may not bring a happy ending for Clone Force 99, with Executive Producer Jennifer Corbett teasing "Plan 99."

Plan 99 requires a team member to sacrifice themselves, hinting at tragedy for the beloved clones in the finale.

Speculation and hope surround Tech's potential survival as fans await the climactic finale of Star Wars: The Bad Batch on May 1st.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Executive Producer and Head Writer Jennifer Corbett shared a bleak message about The Bad Batch's finale episode, suggesting terrible things to come for Star Wars' beloved Clone Force 99. The Bad Batch season 3 has been full of surprises, but the season—and the show—has just one episode left to conclude the Bad Batch's stories. However, the members of the Bad Batch team remain in precarious situations, with Omega still captured by the Empire and Crosshair, Wrecker, and Hunter on their way to find her.

Now, it seems audiences shouldn't be expecting a happily ever after for the fan-favorite clone troopers. The Bad Batch Head Writer and Executive Producer Jennifer Corbett posted a mysterious but grim message on X regarding the fate of the clones, saying, "Couldn't decide between a cryptic tweet or a tease from the script, so for #TheBadBatch finale you get both: 'Plan 99.'"

Although that isn't necessarily a lot to go off of, the message speaks (sad) volumes about what may be to come for the Bad Batch team, all of it pertaining to Plan 99.

What Is "Plan 99" & Why Does It Bode Ill For The Bad Batch?

Close

The Bad Batch implemented a number of plans for various situations, with Tech in particular frequently making sure that the Bad Batch team members were up-to-date on the different plan names and what they required. Devastatingly, Plan 99 has already had significant relevance in The Bad Batch. Indeed, Plan 99 is one of the Bad Batch's saddest plans, as it requires one member of the team to give their life to save the others. Tech himself had already executed that plan, seemingly dying in the Bad Batch season 2 ending.

In fact, the very episode in which Tech died was titled "Plan 99." Particularly given the fact that Omega is still captured by the Empire and an awful lot has to happen prior to the show's finale, this doesn't bode well for Clone Force 99. The team has already suffered significant losses and, as this episode will presumably be the end to their Star Wars story, the clones could get one of the most tragic endings to date.

However, there are other interesting hints to be found in Corbett's post. For one, the text was accompanied by an image of a dragon opening its eyes and blinking, with some in the comments speculating this is reflective of a character who became brainwashed and forced to fight against its own family. Based on this, some viewers are hopeful that the post references Tech and his possible survival of his seeming death in The Bad Batch season 2.

Ultimately, the conclusion of The Bad Batch remains a major mystery. However, as the show's finale will be released on May 1st, the wait will soon be over, and the remaining secrets will be revealed. For now, though, Star Wars: The Bad Batch Executive Producer and Head Writer Jennifer Corbett has left Star Wars audiences with the dismal possibility that the end really could be coming for at least some members of Clone Force 99.
