Concept art shared on StarWars.com for their "Flash Strike" episode guide reveals what Wrecker's armor looks like after his run-in with the dryax. All viewers can really see is that he's flung into a tree by the creature and that he needs support from Hunter and Crosshair to stand, but this concept art shows that the throw is just one part of the attack. Will A Member Of The Bad Batch Meet Their Fate In The Finale?
Wrecker's Injury Has Just Raised The Stakes For Clone Force 99
Close
Wrecker's injury alone seems to foreshadow that the survival chances for members of the Bad Batch are constantly in flux. The Bad Batch season 2's ending also proved this by killing Tech in one of the franchise's most heartbreaking deaths yet. This is what has viewers discussing the possibility of losing one or more members of Clone Force 99 in the series finale, as the creators of the animated series have proven they're not afraid to take the risk. Wrecker's injury seems to tease that they'll do it again, but there's still hope for Clone Force 99.
For one, this will be the final episode of The Bad Batch as a whole, and that alone would make any major character death feel either pointless or simply like an unnecessary shock factor. Tech's death at least served the purpose of raising the stakes for another season; a death in this finale would only cause heartbreak in a situation where many viewers are already going to be mourning the loss of the show. Additionally, there have been no narrative threads suggesting that one of the Bad Batch members would meet their fate.
Who knows? There just might be hope for us yet. — Hunter
In fact, Hunter's words to Crosshair in season 3, episode 5 "The Return" actually seem to serve the opposite purpose. When he reassures his brother by saying "Who knows? There just might be hope for us yet," it seems very much like a setup for what will actually be a hopeful and positive outcome for Clone Force 99. Many have been predicting that Star Wars will follow up The Bad Batch with a clone rebellion show, and this line suggests that the Bad Batch may actually live to see it - and get a chance to continue doing the right thing.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch releases its final episode on Wednesday, May 1 at 3 AM ET, 12 AM PT, and 8 AM GMT on Disney+.
