All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (May 2024)
One of the most rare and unique Pokémon in Pokémon GO, Ditto, is available for you to catch once again in May 2024. Ditto is different from every other Pokémon in that it uses Transform to appear as other types of Pokémon in the wild. Like in the TV Show, Ditto hides its true identity in Pokémon GO, making it much trickier to catch. Unlike every other Pokémon, you won't know if it is a Ditto that you have caught until you have captured it using a PokéBall. Despite its unique status, Ditto isn't one of the Pokémon that can't be traded in Pokémon GO. Ditto disguises itself as various Pokémon in Pokémon GO, which, when caught, transforms back into Ditto.
The different Pokémon that can transform into Ditto only change a couple of times yearly, so if you have been on the hunt for one for several months, you will know which types you must look out for. This is unlike other features of Pokémon GO that update monthly, such as the Pokémon available in Raids or the Teams of GO Rocket leaders, such as Arlo in Pokémon GO. The exact percentage chance of any Pokémon being a Ditto that has transformed has never been released, so you need to catch as many of certain Pokémon as you can to increase your chances.

Ditto Can Transform Into 11 Different Pokemon
Close
The different Pokémon disguising themselves as Ditto during May 2024 haven't changed since they were updated in March 2024. For this month, Ditto can appear as eleven different Pokémon spanning across the first seven generations of the series. Most Pokémon that Ditto can appear as are fairly common types, increasing your chances of finding one.
Ditto has a lower catch rate than most of these eleven Pokémon, so if you are struggling to catch one, that increases the chance that it will transform. Hence, it is a good idea to use Berries and better PokéBalls to ensure it doesn't run away.
From the original Generation 1, Ditto can disguise itself as four different Pokémon: Oddish, Koffing, Rhyhorn, or Goldeen. While these don't often have increased spawn rates, many will during the Rediscover Kanto event, which is set to run until the 10th of May. Of these, you are most likely to encounter the Grass- and Poison-type Oddish.
You won't know until after you have caught one of these Pokémon if you have a Ditto. Which will be indicated by the text, "Oh?"
The most common Pokémon that Ditto can disguise itself are Gen 2 Spinarak, Gen 4 Bidoof, or Gen 7 Stufful. These three Pokémon all spawn at a regular rate, regardless of any events that are taking place.
Every time you see one of these common Pokémon, you should ensure you catch it to increase your chances of bagging a Ditto this month. The standard type can also transform into Numel, Gothita, Solosis, and Bergmite, although these are more commonly found during certain events in the Pokémon GO calendar.

How To Increase Your Chances Of Catching Ditto
Best Catching Stragegy
With several updates set for Pokémon GO this summer, if you haven't already got one, now is the time to add Ditto to your Pokédex. While a lot of luck is required to find a Ditto, there are many ways you can increase your chances of catching it.
One way to do this is to use regular Incense or your Daily Adventure Incense to increase the number of spawns in your nearby location. You can also use Lures on PokéStops to increase the number of Pokémon that will appear around that stop.
Using Lures has the added benefit of assisting other players in their hunt for rare Pokémon, such as Ditto, and those with less common spawns. If you are playing with friends and one of you finds a Ditto, the same Pokémon will also transform into Ditto for everyone else nearby. While rare, Ditto has also appeared on a couple of occasions as part of Special Research, so it is always worth completing any outstanding tasks you have.
While rare, it is possible to catch multiple Dittos; with any other Pokémon, you can see more to earn extra candies and increase their CP. Dittos can't be used in PvP battles in the GO Battle League events, such as Pokémon GO's Jungle Cup, or when facing members of Team GO Rocket, but it can be used in regular gym battles when taking on Pokémon that have been left in there.
How To Catch a Shiny Ditto
A 1 in 64 chance
While it is hard to find any Ditto in Pokemon GO, there is a chance that you can catch the even rarer Shiny Ditto, which appears Blue, as opposed to its normal Pink color. The shiny version of the Generation One Pokémon was added to the game as part of a special event in 2021 and has since appeared in Special Research. Any Pokémon you find from the above list that has a chance to transform into Ditto also has a chance to turn into its shiny version.
If you encounter a Shiny Pokémon that normally has the possibility of transforming into Ditto, such as Oddish, it will always stay as the original Pokémon.
Ditto has one of the better odds of being a shiny version of any Pokémon due to its normal version's rarity. It is estimated that 1 in 64 Dittos you find in the wild will be the shiny version. Unless Shiny Ditto again appears in Special Research, there is nothing further you can do to increase your chances of netting this version other than catching as many of the Pokémon that can transform into it as possible.
Whether you are a new player or an experienced trainer, there is no guarantee of capturing a Ditto. While a lot of luck is required, if you see any of the above eleven Pokémon in the wild, you should attempt to catch them, and eventually, one of them will turn into the elusive Ditto in Pokémon GO.
