Marvel Cinematic Universe actors Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. have recently celebrated Jeremy Renner's recovery from the latter's near-death accident. When watching the Marvel movies in release order, Renner and Hemsworth first appeared in the same film. The two starred in 2011's Thor, before going on to become integral Avengers members that may even continue into upcoming MCU movies. While the Marvel movies releasing in 2024 will integrate the Fox X-Men universe to the franchise, Hawkeye and Thor are still important characters in the world of Marvel's live-action superheroes.
That said, Jeremy Renner's near-death accident in January 2023 caused his recovery to take natural precedence over his MCU future, with Variety outlining Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr.'s celebration of such. As revealed by the outlet, several Avengers stars coalesced for Chris Evans' wedding in late 2023. One such actor was Renner himself, who had not seen several of his Avengers compatriots since the infamous snow plow accident on New Year's Day, 2023. When asked about Renner's recovery, Hemsworth and RDJ had this to say:
Hemsworth: “He sent us all a sort of a doped out, hospital, beat-up image and said, ‘All good, guys.’ And then I didn’t hear from him for a while as he was in the thick of it.” Downey Jr.: “If there’s one characteristic we’d all agree is paramount, it’s resilience. To see Renner embody that literally... was mind-blowing. Fully recovered and ready to celebrate. So, yes - miracles happen.” Hemsworth: “There was an astounding sense of gratitude from him around just being alive.”
