Ciara Mentors American Idol Season 22 Top 7 Contestants As Brand-New Theme Is Announced

With only seven contestants left on American Idol, the competition is heating up, which could lead to some surprising eliminations.

American Idol season 22 has invited singer Ciara to mentor the Top 7 finalists as they sing Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance. Kaibrienne was just eliminated from American Idol season 22 after judge Katy Perry saved McKenna Faith Breinholt. Those two singers and the other contestants have received fantastic mentoring from the likes of Tori Kelly, Jelly Roll, Gene Simmons, Meghan Trainor and Shania Twain.

Now singer Ciara is joining that list of superstar performers who will help the finalists as they navigate the next round of the competition on American Idol. The news was revealed during the most recent episode, when the Top 8 performed in the Judges' Song Contest, which saw Katy win yet again. The Top 7 will be performing two songs each in the April 5 episode, one of which will be chosen from Adele's catalog, while the other song is part of a new theme called Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance. It's that latter theme that will see Ciara appear as the guest mentor.

Ciara's mentor news wasn't the only exciting announcement that came out of American Idol season 22's Judges' Song Contest episode. Ryan Seacrest also revealed that when the annual Disney Night comes back in a couple of weeks on May 12, the Top 5 won't merely be performing two songs each from the vast Disney catalog; they'll also be traveling to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. A guest mentor hasn't been announced yet, but past Disney Night mentors include Sofia Carson, Derek Hough, John Stamos, Rebel Wilson and Idina Menzel.

Disney Night has become an annual tradition for American Idol now that the hit singing competition show is on ABC, which is owned by Disney. It has also given Katy the opportunity to dress up as various Disney characters every year, including Snow White, Ursula, Mrs. Jumbo, Tinker Bell, Ariel and Elastigirl. Since Katy is leaving after American Idol season 22, this will be her final time getting into the Disney spirit.

These next couple of weeks will be some of the most stress-inducing weeks of the competition, not just for the singers but also for the voting public. There are seven contestants left on American Idol, and after Adele/Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance Night and Disney Night have concluded, only three singers will remain to compete for the title in the finale. With so many talented performers, there are bound to be some shocking eliminations ahead of the American Idol season 22 finale.
