What Happened In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode 4?
Close
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #4, “The Soldier With Love, Hibiki!”, opened with the Dragon Keepers and their Junior First Rangers, their second-in-commands, having a meeting about Red Keeper losing his Divine Artifact. Himura, Red Keeper’s Junior First Ranger who secretly helped Suzukiri behind the scenes, told Red Keeper that he needed to pay for his mistake by retiring, all in the hopes of becoming the new Red Keeper. Red Keeper responded by beating Himura to death with his bare hands, and Red Keeper then went back to his meal while not caring about being covered in blood.
Later, D was revealed to have faked his death by blowing himself up with dynamite, and Sakurama found him in the woods while he was recovering. As D recovered, Sakurama told him about how his parents were killed and his sister was crippled by a Monster, and the experience is why Sakurama believes in the justice the Ranger Force is supposed to provide. That mindset is why Sakurama still wanted to work with D to change the Ranger Force, but before they could properly discuss things, one of Blue Keeper’s subordinates, Hekiru, showed up looking for D.
D, having taken something of a liking to Sakurama, tried to fight Hekiru while keeping Sakurama’s true allegiances a secret, but Hekiru’s artificial Divine Artifact made winning impossible. To save D, Sakurama came up with a plan where Sakurama would disguise himself as D and D would transform into Sakurama to trick Hekiru, with Sakurama even cutting his arm off to sell it. Hekiru became convinced that D was killed and Sakurama went into hiding while D took over Sakurama’s life, the two of them deciding to make a competition out of who could take down the Ranger Force first.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Is Finally Done With Its Prologue
If there’s anything to take away from Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #4, it’s that it was essentially the end of the anime’s prologue. The first four episodes were all setting up the world, characters, and general stakes, and now, with D taking over Sakurama’s life to infiltrate the Ranger Force, D’s fight against the Dragon Keepers can now begin in earnest thanks to D having a surefire way into their ranks. Now is when Go! Go! Loser Ranger!’s story will truly take off, and it will be great to see how that develops from episode #5, onward.
