A new superpower has been given to Harley Quinn in a preview for Harley Quinn 2024 Annual #1. Poison Ivy is known for her resistance to toxins and illnesses. It isn't unheard of for Harley to gain similar resistance as a gift from her girlfriend. Now, the titular Mistress of Mayhem is being granted even more immunity than she had before.

Harley Quinn 2024 Annual #1 has the creative team of Erica Henderson and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. This 40-page issue will feature the sometimes-villainess/sometimes-hero in a murder mystery as she tries to take a break from all the stress in her life. A renowned DC heroine has been accused, and it's up to Harley to clear her name.

Harley has had her hands full in her recent adventures with multiversal conflicts. After turning over a new leaf as a hero with an alliance with Batman, the fan-favorite harlequin hasn't had much time to herself. With a new antihero journey ahead, Harley is overdue to have some downtime and regroup.

Harley is ready for a vacation and DC is finally giving her one. In the upcoming issue's preview, she is seen with Poison Ivy, who will not be going on the cruise with her. However, the botanical villainess isn't letting Harley go without a proper gift; one that gives her girlfriend a very useful superpower. With just a single kiss, Harley now has immunity to several illnesses common to long stays on boats, such as norovirus and E. Coli. She already had immunity to the toxins Poison Ivy excretes, but now this ability has been expanded. The synopsis is as follows:

With this upgrade, Harley likely has heightened resistance to a lot of common illnesses she could come across day-to-day, which is incredibly handy. Superheroes and villains aren't often seen infected with the most normal illnesses except on rare occasions or in brief mentions to explain a general absence, such as a cold. However, given the kinds of conditions they're out in, and how many people they interact with, it's likely that having a boosted immune system would be a great asset to have. Harley has needed a break and this power acquisition is exactly what she needs to have as few normal hiccups as possible.

Harley Quinn Takes on The Role of Batman in New Mystery

Having a boosted immune system doesn't mean Harley will be able to avoid trouble. A murder mystery involving Zatanna looms on the horizon, promising to keep her vacation from being fully centered on relaxation. However, given how busy her life has been, Harley likely will get a decent break nonetheless. With this threat likely being smaller than the ones she's faced recently, she should be able to rely far more on her intellect than her physical skillsets. On this cruise, Harley should be able to do her best Batman impression, showing that she can also be a detective in her own right without sicknesses to hinder her investigation.
