Marvel's Spider-Man Players Spot Miles Morales' Most Useless Trait Two Games In A Row
Summary Miles Morales is a fun character to play as, with unique bioelectric venom abilities and camouflage offering different gameplay in the Marvel's Spider-Man series.
Fans theorize why Miles does unnecessary backflips instead of helping Peter in intense combat moments.
The "useless backflip trilogy" in Marvel's Spider-Man games leaves fans curious about its potential payoff in future installments.
Miles Morales is an extremely fun character to play as in Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man series, with the games showing his progression from an unpowered civilian to a fully-fledged superhero, using his bioelectric venom abilities and camouflage to set him apart from Peter Parker's gameplay. Despite this, the character does seem to have a completely useless character trait in some intense combat moments across both his solo title Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
When Peter Parker has been in perilous situations in these two titles, being thrown across an area by one of his superpowered foes, Miles has a habit of doing what any good superhero partner would do... a backflip. The scene in the opening moments of 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been openly ridiculed for this unnecessary movement where Miles could have attempted to catch his ally, rather than let him hit a wall at top speed, but a clip captured by hey_lemon9 on TikTok and shared by Due-Science3011 on the r/SpidermanPS4 subreddit shows him doing the same thing again in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 when Venom throws Peter through the glass ceiling of the Emily-May Foundation.
Due-Science3011's post even encouraged Marvel's Spider-Man fans to think up when Miles could do a useless flip in a future entry, with many suggesting it will happen in a major fight with the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn's villainous alter-ego, who has been set up across several titles and will most likely appear in Marvel's Spider-Man 3.

Why Does Miles Do Such Unnecessary Backflips Instead Of Helping Peter?
Players Theorized The Reasons Behind This Logic
With the two clips shown side by side, it was clear a pattern was forming in Miles' behavior, leading Marvel's Spider-Man fans to theorize why the young hero would opt to do aerobatic maneuvers rather than helping his superhero mentor and friend. While the flip in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales could be the then inexperienced superhero mistiming dodging a flying Peter because he is not used to his spider-sense yet, this excuse doesn't quite hold up in the example shown from Marvel's Spider-Man 2, where he can see Peter and Venom clearly and does a flip randomly.
Some did comment that Miles could be putting some distance between himself and Venom, but they were already an entire room's length away from each other at this point. Alternatively, a backflip could be Miles' kneejerk reaction to his spider-sense going off, much like when players instinctively hit the circle key to dodge in combat the moment they see the spider-sense warning flash above the heroes' heads.
Many are hopeful that Miles' "useless backflip trilogy" will have some kind of payoff in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, with his aerobatic moves resulting in him either successfully catching Peter or even giving the heroes the upper hand in their inevitable battle against foes such as Green Goblin and Doc Ock. Only time will tell, but for now, the mystery of why Miles does his random backflips throughout the Marvel's Spider-Man games remains unsolved.
