Song Kang starred in two major K-drama roles at the end of 2023 – Sweet Home and My Demon, both of which are available on Netflix. Whereas Sweet Home season 2 saw Song Kang reprise his role as Hyun-su, My Demon was a brand new series that ran for 16 episodes. Sweet Home is a horror K-drama with a lot of action, though, which is quite different from Song Kang’s most famous roles. While My Demon also dealt with supernatural elements, including demons and life contracts, the series was closer to Song Kang’s previous work in romantic comedies.

How Park Min-young’s Marry My Husband & Forecasting Love And Weather Characters Compare

Kang Ji-won and Ha-kyung’s stories had a similar start

Interestingly, Kang Ji-won’s story in Marry My Husband starts very similarly to Ha-kyung’s in Forecasting Love and Weather. Both characters discover toward the end of episode 1 that they are being cheated on. The scene in which Ji-won finds out that her husband is cheating on her with her best friend is quite similar to the moment in which Ha-hyung finds out the truth about her fiancé – they both see Park Min-young’s character noticing a pair of shoes from another woman. The biggest difference is that Ha-kyung does not expose her fiancé right away.

Another similarity is that both Ha-kyung and Ji-won had to continue working with the person who had cheated on them as well as the other women involved. While Ji-won’s boyfriend had yet to cheat on her in 2013 – Marry My Husband is a time travel K-drama after all – the character had to endure looking at the man who would one day try to murder her after being exposed. Marry My Husband and Forecasting Love and Weather also saw their main characters trying to avoid new relationships, although for different reasons.

How Song Kang’s My Demon Character Is Different From His Forecasting Love And Weather Role

Gu-won couldn’t be more different from Shi-woo

The love story in Forecasting Love and Weather is more complicated than the one in My Demon, even though it doesn’t involve magic.

Song Kang’s character in My Demon is very different from Forecasting Love and Weather’s Shi-woo. Whereas Shi-woo was full of energy and was easy to make friends with, Gu-won was the embodiment of hostility. Naturally, a 200-year-old demon who has to steal people’s souls every day would be a very different character from a 27-year-old human who works at the Korea Meteorological Administration. That said, both My Demon and Forecasting Love and Weather allowed Song Kang to show his comedy chops, even if not for the same reasons.

Much of the humor in My Demon comes from how socially inept Gu-won is during the K-drama. The demon has to marry the CEO of a major company and suddenly becomes the center of attention, leading to a hilarious love story between a mortal and an all-powerful entity. Forecasting Love and Weather, on the other hand, plays with how smart yet naïve Shi-woo is compared to the more experienced members of the KMA, including Ha-kyung. The love story in Forecasting Love and Weather is more complicated than the one in My Demon, even though it doesn’t involve magic.
