Stardew Valley 1.6 Gets Another Patch & It's Great News For Beekeepers

Summary Patch 1.6.6 for Stardew Valley focuses on bug fixes and minor improvements for player satisfaction.

Bee houses can now work with flowers in pots, a change that will please farmers with a clean aesthetic.

The update also includes new modding features to enhance the experience for creators and players alike.

After a couple of months of consistent updates for Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe has released yet another patch that adjusts the game and while it may not be massive in terms of content, it should make a particular kind of farmer very happy. While the farming RPG may be nearly a decade old, it continues to be one of the best-supported video games in recent memory as its creator continues to listen to the community's feedback. The recent 1.6 Update was one of the biggest expansions to date, so it stands to reason that some bugs need to be squashed.

Posted to the Stardew Valley website, the patch notes will be of interest to those players who like to keep bees given that the headline change sees bee houses working with flowers that have been planted in garden pots. Previous versions of the game required flowers to be planted directly into the soil if users wanted them to work with nearby hives so farmers who like to maintain a clean aesthetic with their garden are now in luck. Additional changes include the ability to turn the gold clock on and off and 50% Mastery XP now only applies to Farming.

Squishing Bugs Is Vital When Working On A Farm

The bulk of the 1.6.6 Patch focuses on eliminating bugs that may have been introduced by the previous 1.6 Update, including a common problem that saw Mr. Raccoon disappear in a cutscene during a multiplayer game. Another frustrating issue that was fixed was the Skull Cavern chest only producing a single Omni Geode, a glitch that frustrated many players given the dungeon's severe difficulty and the lackluster reward. Island outfits should now also correctly load for farmhands and a bug that made an area inaccessible in the Volcano Dungeon has been corrected.

One of the more substantial tweaks will be great news for modders as the 1.6.6 Patch has introduced two new fields into the game: CanBeGivenAsGift and CanBeTrashed. These will allow creators to assign different items to the ability to act as a present or to be thrown away, which should hopefully result in some fun mods and interactions. The modding community dedicated to Stardew Valley has never been more active so ConcernedApe adding in features specifically for those who enjoy building add-ons is a great touch.

Whether Patch 1.6.6 is the final update for Stardew Valley in a while remains to be seen but ConcernedApe seems to always be developing improvements for his game. While the 1.6 Update has been well-received on PC, console and mobile players are still waiting for it to land on their various devices. The developer has noted that the process is taking longer than expected but promises that it will launch soon without attaching a specific date to release.
