Every month brings new games to the Xbox Game Pass service, with the regularly changing roster in Microsoft's subscription offering plenty of titles for different types of players to enjoy. These can be titles from long-running franchises, indie gems, or titles from Microsoft's first-party studios which are added at no extra cost upon their launch, making Game Pass one of the better deals in gaming.
These titles can be announced long in advance, which is often the case with the main "Waves", which come at the start and the middle of each month. There are some exceptions, however, such as the late additions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which joined Game Pass suddenly in late April as part of the long-running deal with EA Play, and the roguelike Have A Nice Death, which joined the subscription on April 30.

In late April, Xbox Wire announced the arrival of four titles for May 2024's first wave of Xbox Game Pass titles, from the first in Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, the first-person detective mystery title, Kona II: Brume, and Starbreeze Studio's award-winning puzzler, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. In this first wave, Little Kitty, Big City, an adventure title in which players assume the role of a cat lost in the city, making friends with stray animals and leaving a fair amount of chaos in their wake as they try to get back home also launched as a day-one title.
There are several other titles that had previously been confirmed to be joining Xbox Game Pass in May but weren't included in the Wave 1 announcement. These include Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to Ninja Theory's 2017 psychological horror game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and the acclaimed puzzler platformer Humanity, which will be coming to Xbox and the Microsoft Store on PC after launching as a PlayStation and Steam exclusive in 2023.
All of these were included in Xbox Wire's second wave announcement on May 14, however. Accompanying these were the 2023 Soulslike action RPG, Lords of the Fallen, which served as both a sequel to the 2014 title of the same name and a soft reboot of the series, the magic-FPS Immortals of Aveum, which was also one of PlayStation Plus' monthly titles last month, and the puzzle-based titles Moving Out 2 and Chants of Sennaar. The sci-fi hospital management game, Galacticare, and the twin-stick shooter Hauntii will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass upon their launch on May 23, and EA Sports NHL 24 will also be available with Xbox Cloud Gaming via EA Play.
The second wave announcement also revealed two games for June 4, Firework and Rolling Hills.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will also be treated to exclusive perks in Overwatch 2: Season 10 and Exoprimal. While Overwatch 2 is free to play, Exoprimal launched on Xbox Game Pass, so both live-service titles have amassed a fanbase out of its subscribers.
Overwatch will offer subscribers the following three skins:

Meanwhile, Exoprimal will give Ultimate subscribers access to the "Head Start Kit". This kit gives players immediate access to the Vigilant, Murasame, and Nimbus exosuits, with an extra skin for each, making it extremely easy for newcomers to get up to speed with the battle against the dinosaurs as its name would suggest.
May 14 saw the launch of Vampire Survivors' Operation Guns DLC, which adds tons of guns and other weapons, along with new locations and characters from Konami’s iconic Contra series, and Game Pass members can save 10% on this. From this day, Naraka: Bladepoint players can also claim exclusive Xbox headgear, new season treasures, legendary skin trial bundle, and more through the game's new Perks Bundle. May 15 is a big day for Xbox Game Pass subscriber perks as Minecraft will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary by offering Ultimate subscribers 500 Minecoins to spend within the Minecraft Marketplace.

As is always the case, with the addition of new titles on Game Pass, Microsoft has announced that some are being removed from the service. This comes at two points in the month, at the end of Wave 1 on May 15, and at the end of Wave 2 on May 31.
These titles include the 2018 action-packed open-world sandbox Just Cause 4 Reloaded, the multiplayer Gundam action RPG, SD Gundam Battle Alliance, the first-person Metroidvania Supraland Six Inches Under, the action RPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, the Pacman collection Pac-man Museum Plus, and more. Fortunately, before these titles are removed, Game Pass subscribers can use their membership discount to save up to 20% to keep them in their libraries.
