Goku's Strongest Forms Get A Saturday Morning Cartoon Redesign In New Dragon Ball Fanart
Summary Goku's popularity has yet to translate into his own Saturday-morning cartoon, with new fanart righting that wrong in a fresh and exciting way.
Fan artist Kevin Shah (@colorreaper) brings characters from various franchises to life with a unique art style that pops off the page.
This piece of art showcases Goku's different forms like Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan God, missing only the non-canon Super Saiyan 4.
Dragon Ball’s most iconic Z-Warrior, Goku, is a Saiyan of incredible skill and unfathomable power, with his immense strength allowing him to ascend to new forms that give him the ability to continue the fight at levels unheard of. And while he’s done a commendable job of leaving a mark in the anime space, Goku has yet to receive his own Saturday-morning cartoon, with new fanart changing that in a way that fits the character well.
Shared on Instagram by Kevin Shah (@colorreaper), this artist succinctly describes themselves as someone who “draws characters in motion,” a creative mindset that translates perfectly to the energetic world of Saturday morning cartoons.
Not only creating artwork featuring characters from the world of Dragon Ball, Kevin has also sketched heroes and villains from Naruto, Samurai Jack, both Marvel and DC Comics, Star Wars, Pokemon, Disney, and more, all drawn in their unique art style that exaggerates the best parts of each character while making their movements pop off the page like a cartoon in motion.

Goku's Most Powerful Forms Come Together In Saturday Morning Cartoon Fanart
Fanart Design By @colorreaper
Having over five different anime shows under its belt, Dragon Ball as a franchise is stronger than ever, with its animation more or less sticking to the late and great Akira Toriyama's specific art style that he was known for. Not nearly as “cartoony” in its presentation by the time the series ended, Goku’s earliest adventures in Dragon Ball had a bit more of a playful look compared to the bulked-up superhero designs of later on, turning Kevin’s fanart into something that allows fans to see Goku and his various transformations in a fresh new light.
Positioning Kid Goku at the center of the image as he gathers energy for a Kamehameha Wave, Kevin uses the attack’s spinning tendrils to separate Goku’s forms from one another as they progressively get more powerful moving around the piece. Starting clockwise from Goku’s “base” form, Kevin draws a freshly transformed Super Saiyan Goku, a Super Saiyan 3 Goku unleashing a Dragon Fist attack, Super Saiyan God Goku rippling with energy, Goku transforming into Super Saiyan Blue and finally, Goku using his Perfected Ultra Instinct technique, with Kevin’s style making each design look like they belong on a television screen.
Dragon Ball's Saturday Cartoon Makeover Features Goku's Best Transformations
At this point, the only thing missing is Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 transformation, which, to be fair, isn’t part of Dragon Ball canon at the moment, with one theory being that the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima series may be, in part, a kind of “remake” of that show, or at the very least, borrow elements from its story which then can be reintroduced into main Dragon Ball canon. Regardless, getting seven different forms for Dragon Ball’s most iconic character in this fanart is incredibly impressive all its own, especially since Goku and pals look great with some Saturday-morning cartoon flair.
