American Idol’s Ziggy Releases Song He Would’ve Performed In Hawaii After Shocking Elimination

Summary Eliminated American Idol season 22 contestant Ziggy shares that he would've sung "Creep" by Radiohead during the Hawaii round, and performs the song on Instagram.

Ziggy is still heart-broken that he didn't make it to the Top 24 of American Idol season 22.

Ziggy's talent shines through in his impressive performance.

American Idol season 22 contestant Ziggy wasn't chosen for the Top 24 by the judges, so he didn't have the opportunity to sing in Hawaii, but he performed the song he would've sung, "Creep" by Radiohead, on Instagram. Ziggy, a 22-year-old American Idol season 22 contestant who is originally from The Netherlands, auditioned with "Million Reasons" by Lady Gaga and was sent to Hollywood by judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. However, at the Final Judgment, the judges asked him and Mackenzie Sol to participate in a sing-off, during which they sang "Jealous" by Labrinth. Ziggy was sent home, while Mackenzie advanced to the Top 24.

In an Instagram post, Ziggy performed a stunning version of "Creep" by Radiohead, the song that he would've sung if he made it to the Hawaii round.

In his caption, Ziggy explained that he wanted to tell the judges and the audience his story about how he was "always feeling less beautiful and always being called a Meme." Ziggy confessed that in the years before he met his boyfriend, he "always felt really Ugly and The thoughts in my mind were always 'Why does anybody want to date with a Cotton Candy meme.' I really was so lost that I thought that I was gonna end up Alone and die with no one caring."

Ziggy Is Still "Heartbroken" Over American Idol Elimination

In the caption of his Instagram post, Ziggy admitted, "I still feel heartbroken that I wasn’t [able] to bring this message on @americanidol but I’m so happy to share my story over here on my Instagram." He then asked his fans if they thought that he would’ve gotten America’s vote with his performance. Ziggy left his fans with some inspiring words, saying that he hoped that everyone who watched felt connected. Ziggy told them, "Don’t give up!," and, "Everything happens for a reason and even in the most darkest days! There will always be someone who thinks you’re beautiful!"

Ziggy's negative feelings came from his past experience with reality television. He placed seventh in Idols, the Dutch version of American Idol. However, he revealed that people there didn't like him because of his big personality and pink and blue-colored hair. They called him "Cotton Candy," and didn't accept him for who he was. It's sad that the American Idol season 22 judges didn't give Ziggy the chance to compete for America's votes because he has many fans who love him. Ziggy's message of self-acceptance is so important, and would've been very empowering and inspiring to continue to see on the show.

Ziggy is an incredibly talented singer. His performance of "Creep" by Radiohead was very impressive. His vocal range and runs were extraordinary, and he proved that he was one of the best singers from American Idol season 22. Fans have called for Ziggy to return to American Idol as a Wild Card contestant, which seems unlikely at this point. However, if the show is truly about America choosing its next Idol, then fans should have the opportunity to vote for him. Whatever happens next, it's clear that Ziggy is a star and has a bright future ahead of him.

American Idol season 22 airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
