Yuji Performs A Black Flash Against Sukuna
Jujutsu Kaisen created by Gege Akutami, chapter #256 "Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 27"
While the beginning of chapter #256 explains that a Black Flash cannot be executed at will, it is important to remember that Yuji currently holds the record for the highest number of consecutive Black Flashes alongside Nanami. Yuji was quick to make the record, having performed the feat early in the series against Hanami. As such, there is little doubt that he could end up doing the same against Sukuna in the upcoming chapters.
Admittedly, Yuji was able to land the hit thanks to Larue quite literally "grabbing" Sukuna's attention, and matching Sukuna's speed and reflexes could prove to be a difficult task for Yuji. Sukuna also still has many more cards up his sleeve that he has yet to reveal, particularly the fire technique Sukuna used at Shibuya against Mahoraga.
having said that, Yuji still has a fighting chance so long as Sukuna cannot cast his domain. Yuji's hinted awakening suggests he may even end up breaking the standing record of consecutive Black Flashes in Jujutsu Kaisen, surpassing even Nanami and Gojo in this regard. If so, Yuji may end up bringing Sukuna closer to defeat than he has ever been since the conclusion of the fight against Gojo.
Yuji Could Be the Key to Defeating Sukuna
Until this point, Sukuna had been plainly dominating the battlefield at Shinjuku, landing one Black Flash after another. Victory against Sukuna presently hinges on preventing him from regaining Reverse Cursed Technique and regenerating his two missing arms, which would allow him to cast his domain and use the slash that cuts that world.
As such, Sukuna getting into a rhythm did not bode well as there was a risk of him restoring his Cursed Energy output through his consecutive Black Flashes. Fortunately, Yuji has a way of disrupting Sukuna's rhythm with his soul-capturing punches, which weaken Sukuna's control over Megumi's body while also causing his Cursed Energy output to drop.
Yuji's punches are the perfect counter to Sukuna and now that Yuji is finally getting into a rhythm himself, fans can likely expect his attacks to hit even harder with the added boost of a Black Flash, which is said to increase the power of a strike by more than double. A Black Flash is also said to allow a sorcerer to harness 120% of their full potential, which will make Yuji Sukuna's biggest threat on the battlefield and an opponent he can no longer afford to take lightly.
Sukuna May Finally Be Forced to Take Yuji Seriously
Close
As things stand, all evidence points to Yuji being set up as the ultimate foil to Sukuna. Yuji's supposed "awakening" does not bode well for the King of Curses who, despite his smugness, may slowly be driven into a corner unable to heal himself or use the most powerful techniques in his possession.
Although Sukuna has endlessly belittled Yuji throughout the series, Yuji has come a long way since he first discovered the world of jujutsu and cursed spirits. Despite starting with no cursed technique or powerful domain, Yuji now holds the single most frustrating power to counter Sukuna, finally forcing him to take Yuji seriously for the first time in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Overall, although Yuji has spent most of Jujutsu Kaisen on the sidelines, this may finally be his chance to make a mark on Sukuna and establish his position as the series' protagonist. The other sorcerers have so far overshadowed Yuji, but the latest chapter finally shines the spotlight on him once again as he draws all the attention to himself with the brilliant black sparks of a Black Flash.
