Marvel SNAP: Thunderbolts Deck Build (Tips, Cards, & Strategies)
In Marvel SNAP’s new season, a new set of cards is coming under the Thunderbolts label. Within this set, there are many new combinations, strategies, and plays to consider as you begin to use these cards with your current decks. Understanding the various tips and tricks associated with these Thunderbolt cards is the best way to be confident using them in battle.
This new Season Pass includes a variety of new cards for Marvel SNAP players, which players can collect throughout the event. Players can earn XP toward these cards by completing the Season Pass-specific missions and playing matches, with extra XP for winning locations in a match. This will give players the opportunity to recruit Baron Zemo and receive the other cards as well.
This Season Pass runs from April 2, 2024, through May 7th, 2024, at 7 p.m. UTC/2 p.m. EST.

Six new cards are coming as part of the Thunderbolts release for Marvel SNAP. These cards are all considered part of the team and part of the Season Pass rewards. Depending on your point of view, they each are bad guys gone good, or perhaps just bad guys. Regardless, they are coming to Marvel SNAP to help players win the day and achieve their purposes.
Card Energy Power Abilities Baron Zemo 3 5 On Reveal: Recruit the lowest-cost card from your opponent's deck to your side of this location. Red Hulk 6 11 When your opponent ends a turn with unspent Energy, +4 Power (if in hand or in play). U.S. Agent 2 3 Ongoing: 4, 5, and 6-Cost cards here have -3 Power. Red Guardian 3 3 On Reveal: Afflict the lowest-power enemy card here with -2 Power and remove its text. White Widow 2 2 On Reveal: Add a Widow's Kiss to your opponent's side of this location. Widow's Kiss is a 0/0 card with the ability Ongoing: This has -4 Power. Disable this ability if your side of this location is full. Valentina 2 3 On Reveal: Add a random 6-Cost card to your hand. Give it -2 Cost and -3 Power.
As you can see, this team has quite the roster, with abilities that will challenge your opponent’s strategy in some way. Additionally, there are two new locations in Marvel SNAP to consider that might also change your strategy.
The first is Castle Zemo, which says that the first card you play there switches sides, making it tempting not to play anything or to play a card to sabotage your opponent. The second is Thunderbolts Tower, which gives all cards at that location -2 Power after turn five.
Thunderbolt Card Synergy With Decks
Many new Marvel SNAP cards are added to existing decks to be tested and tried and do not often make it into their own brand new deck. These cards can work together in this case, but the better strategy might be to incorporate them into other decks. Baron Zemo has the best shot of being put into his deck type in Marvel SNAP, but all of these cards could be used together or in other decks to significant effect.
All of these cards play with gaining or taking away Power from other cards, so that could cause issues if they were all in the same deck. However, Red Hulk and Baron Zemo can work well together, although their abilities do not sync perfectly; taking a cheap card away from your opponent and increasing the odds of them having unspent Energy while you hold onto Red Hulk could be game-winning.
Baron Zemo slots nicely into any mill deck, particularly with Cable, and Red Hulk likes to be with other similarly high-power cards, like Shuri.
Red Guardian, meanwhile, can find a home in nearly any deck given the chance. Its ability to make an opponent’s card blank on turn 3 is powerful. This can negate cards like Hope Summers before she can do much, and it could change your opponent’s strategy. This means he can certainly play with the other Thunderbolts, but he can also be pretty powerful on his own in other decks.
White Widow, meanwhile, is just a good card that can give your opponent grief when her Widow’s Kiss comes out. Again, she does not necessarily go best with her fellow Thunderbolts, but she can be slotted into nearly any deck to give your opponent a headache. Valentina is also an extremely powerful card, but she will play best in a deck that cares about high-cost cards regardless of the Power level, like a Loki deck.
Because of that, many of these cards support the archetype they belong in, bringing some advantage to them, as opposed to existing only within a Thunderbolts archetype. The cards have a place within the existing archetypes, and it will be interesting to see how their value rises and falls as the meta changes. After all, rebuilding decks over and over again is half the fun of Marvel SNAP.
Baron Zemo and Cable Deck Build
Taking cards from your opponent can ruin their game and improve yours. This makes a Cable and Baron Zemo team-up quite intimidating and, according to Cozy Snap on YouTube, who built this deck, often causes their opponents to retreat. Cozy Snap also has suggestions for rebuilding the Patriot Deck in Marvel SNAP.
Others have also mentioned a Baron Zemo and Cable team-up with cards like Loki and Alioth, so this is one of many deckbuilding options. The point of the deck is to take your opponent's cards and wait. If you want more Thunderbolts, Black Widow could be traded out for White Widow here.
Card Energy Power Ability Spider-Ham 1 1 On Reveal: Transform the leftmost card in your opponent's hand into a Pig, keeping its Power and Cost. Yondu 1 2 On Reveal: Destroy the lowest-Cost card in your opponent's deck. Grandmaster 2 0 On Reveal: Move one of your other On Reveal cards here to the middle location. Its ability happens again. Cable 2 3 On Reveal: Draw a card from your opponent's deck. Maximus 2 6 On Reveal: Your opponent draws 2 cards.
Card Energy Power Ability Black Widow 3 3 On Reveal: Add a Widow's Bite to your opponent's hand. Baron Zemo 3 5 On Reveal: Recruit the lowest-Cost card from your opponent's deck to your side of this location. Gladiator 3 8 On Reveal: Add a card from your opponent's deck to their side of this location. If it has less Power, destroy it. Shang-Chi 4 3 On Reveal: Destroy all enemy cards here that have 10 or more Power. Absorbing Man 4 4 On Reveal: If the last card you played has an On Reveal, copy its text (if it's in play). Iron Lad 4 6 On Reveal: Copy the text of your deck's top card. Doctor Octopus 5 10 On Reveal: Pull 4 cards from your opponent's hand to their side of this location.
Red Hulk and Shuri Deck Build
All the cards in this deck, also built by Cozy Snap, are meant to increase Power levels or play higher power cards for less money. Many of these cards, like America Chavez, also passively give another card higher Power, giving big players full Power in Marvel SNAP.
To protect some of these cards, there is also an Armor available to keep the high-Power cards from being destroyed by your opponent. Captain Marvel and Vision are there to help move from location to location if necessary. This deck is focused on overwhelming the opponent with sheer Power.
Card Energy Power Ability Sunspot 1 0 After each turn, gain +1 Power for each unspent Energy. America Chavez 1 2 On Reveal: Give the top card of your deck +2 Power. Armor 2 3 Ongoing: Cards here can't be destroyed. Jeff! 2 3 You can move this once. Nothing can stop you from moving or playing this to any location. Hope Summers 3 4 After you play a card here, you get +1 Energy next turn. Shuri 4 1 On Reveal: If you play your next card at this location, double its Power.
Card Energy Power Ability Captain Marvel 4 5 At the end of the game, move to a location that wins you the game (if possible). Taskmaster 5 0 On Reveal: Set this card's Power equal to that of the last card you played (if that card's in play). Vision 5 8 You can move this each turn. Red Skull 5 14 Ongoing: Enemy cards here have +2 Power. She-Hulk 6 10 Costs 1 less for each unspent Energy last turn. Red Hulk 6 11 When your opponent ends a turn with unspent Energy, +4 Power (if in hand or in play).
The other cards from the new Season will be released in the coming days, as shown in the table below. When they do, players may experiment with new ways of combining them and finding new synergies for them as well. This will help the Thunderbolts all find new homes with new tips and tricks in player decks in Marvel SNAP.
