Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3.

Summary Wrecker's injuries caused tension, but he ultimately survived The Bad Batch's season 3 finale, as did Echo despite being stabbed by a CX-2 clone.

Crosshair lost his hand in a fight against the CX-2 clones, creating a heart-stopping moment as the usually competent team was defeated, before being imprisoned by Hemlock.

Other big moments that caused tension included Crosshair's final shot to save Omega, Tarkin's arrival, and the Bad Batch season 3's epilogue.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3's ending was filled with action, emotion, and no shortage of heart-stopping moments. As it turns out, this was delivered in spades as the assault on Mount Tantiss got underway in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3's ending.

As was expected, the episode titled "The Cavalry Has Arrived" centered entirely around the planet of Wayland in The Bad Batch season 3. Wrecker, Hunter, and Crosshair sought to infiltrate the facility from the outside, while Echo and Omega formulated two intersecting plans under Imperial eyes. With it being common knowledge that Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 4 is not happening, the action-packed finale of the show was suitably tense. From the action sequences involving the beloved Clone Force 99 to the story's importance in the Star Wars universe, The Bad Batch's season 3 finale had several heart-stopping moments.

10 Wrecker’s Injury From The Tantiss Jungle

Wrecker's injuries tricked audiences into thinking he would not survive The Bad Batch's ending.

Early in the episode, it was established that Wrecker was suffering from the injuries sustained in the prior episode. Wrecker, Crosshair, and Hunter faced off against a giant creature in the jungles of Tantiss, though the episode ended before details could be provided. The Bad Batch season 3's finale opened with Wrecker actively feeling the strain of the injury, striking fear into the hearts of viewers.

Wrecker's injuries were bad enough as it was, but the show continued with potential hints that he may not survive. From Crosshair's worry about Wrecker to the noted reveal that the Batch was out of med packs, it started to look extra grim for Wrecker. However, his injuries turned out not to be a major issue in The Bad Batch season 3 given his survival by the episode's end, proving the early focus on such wounds was heart-stopping for the sake of constructed tension.

9 Crosshair’s Hand Getting Cut Off (& The Fight Against The CX-2’s)

The Batch's fight against the CX-2 clones did not end well, as evidenced by Crosshair losing his hand.

Close

Shortly after Clone Force 99 entered Tantiss, the squad of CX-2 clones quickly engaged them. This fight was notably poor on the Bad Batch's behalf, as they were quickly defeated. This sequence alone included several heart-stopping moments, as a team that is usually so competent was picked apart by the secretive, Imperial assassins.

The same hand that has been troubling Crosshair throughout The Bad Batch season 3 was a target for the CX-2 clone, who chopped it off before the episode cut away to a different scene.

The end of the fight in The Bad Batch's season 3 finale then provided even more tense moments. One involved Hunter getting crushed beneath falling debris, but the biggest was Crosshair's hand being cut off. The same hand that has been troubling Crosshair throughout The Bad Batch season 3 was a target for the CX-2 clone, who chopped it off before the episode cut away to a different scene.

8 The Bad Batch Being Captured By Hemlock

Clone Force 99 in the custody of Hemlock was a worrying sight.

The fight against the CX-2 clones ending poorly for the Batch resulted in an even more dreadful sight. The three members were placed inside pods that held them secure and subjected to the same torture that the CX-2 clones underwent. This was heart-stopping in a similar way to the fight sequence, as it showed Clone Force 99 at their most helpless in The Bad Batch season 3's ending.

One of the more heart-rending scenes in this part of the episode involved Hunter. The leader of Clone Force 99 was adamant he and his brothers would withstand Hemlock's torture methods, though he was notably weaker than usual when delivering the threat. The scene ended with Hunter's pod resuming its electricity-based torture of the clone, making for a suspenseful final stretch of The Bad Batch season 3's ending.

7 Echo & Omega Staying Behind On Tantiss

Echo and Omega heading back into Hemlock's lair was a harrowing plot point in The Bad Batch's finale.

Close

While Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair were being subjected to Hemlock's torture in The Bad Batch season 3's ending, Omega and Echo reunited. The two managed to find one another and committed to helping the Force-sensitive children who were part of Star Wars' Project Necromancer to safety. However, after putting the children safely on a shuttle to Pabu, Echo and Omega decided to head back into Tantiss.

This certainly made sense from a story and character perspective, as Echo and Omega wish to save their brothers. Although their motivations were honest, it seemed as though The Bad Batch season 3's ending was setting up a tragic fate. As is common with TV tropes, this seemed like a moment in which Echo and Omega had one singular chance to escape, but turned back out of heroism, only to lead to their sacrifice.

Echo and Omega survived the events of The Bad Batch season 3's finale, with both being left off for future potential stories.

6 Echo Fighting Off The CX-2 Clones (& Being Stabbed)

Echo's battle against Hemlock's CX-2 clones was tense and suspenseful.

As alluded to, Wrecker, Hunter, and Crosshair's escape was largely aided by Echo and Omega. While the latter freed her brothers, Echo held off the CX-2 guards. As was proven earlier in the episode, this was never going to be an easy fight for the former member of The Clone Wars' Domino Squad.

Although Echo had some help from the clone prisoners of Tantiss he recently set free, Echo found it difficult to face off against several highly-trained assassins, One of the most heart-stopping moments of The Bad Batch season 3's ending came as a result of this, when Echo was stabbed in the shoulder from behind. While he managed to gain the upper hand against his assailant, the moment caused a great deal of shock for those fearful Echo was going to die at that moment.

5 The CX-2 Clones Being Killed

The Bad Batch season 3's Tech theories meant the deaths of the CX-2 clones were more upsetting than first thought.

Close

A common theory among The Bad Batch season 3's audience was that one of the CX-2 clones was a revived Tech. Many assumed that the Empire found Tech's body, kept him alive, and turned him into one of Hemlock's lackeys after The Bad Batch season 2's ending. While it looked increasingly unlikely that this would be the case as The Bad Batch neared its end, some still held out hope.

These lingering hopes caused what should have been a celebratory moment of The Bad Batch season 3's ending to instead cause caution. This moment was when the various CX-2 clones were killed by Clone Force 99. At this point, the episode had not confirmed whether or not Tech was one of the clones, meaning several audience members' hearts stopped at the prospect of the fallen Clone Force 99 member being unceremoniously killed by his brothers.

The lack of confirmation proves that Tech was always dead after The Bad Batch season 2, and was never intended to be a CX-2 clone.

4 Hemlock Escaping With Omega

The Bad Batch almost lost Omega once more.

Despite the happy moment of the Batch being freed by Omega, Hemlock turned the situation to his advantage. Utilizing more CX-2 clones to subdue the already-tortured Clone Force 99 members, Hemlock cuffed himself to Omega and stole her away from her brothers once again. This led to a confrontation aboard a high walkway atop which Hemlock almost escaped with Omega. The prospect of Omega being torn away from her brothers at the end of The Bad Batch season 3 was enough to make most fans' hearts almost stop prematurely.

3 Crosshair’s Shot To Save Omega

The climactic moment of The Bad Batch season 3 centered on Omega and Crosshair.

On the catwalk above Tantiss, Crosshair and Hunter cornered Hemlock who had Omega in tow. This led to the show's climactic moment, which alone was enough to cause a great deal of suspense. The moment involved Crosshair shooting the cuffs binding Hemlock and Omega together, though his PTSD from Tantiss has been shown to cause his marksman skills to be somewhat lacking throughout The Bad Batch season 3.

The Bad Batch season 3's ending revolved around this scene.

All of this made the moment an endless series of heart-stopping developments. From Omega stabbing Hemlock in the leg and Crosshair taking the shot to Hunter killing Hemlock and Omega's warm embrace of her two brothers, The Bad Batch season 3's ending revolved around this scene. All of this caused it to be the most nervy scene of The Bad Batch season 3's finale.

2 Tarkin's Arrival The Instant Clone Force 99 Escapes

Had Clone Force 99 left Tantiss a second earlier, Tarkin would have caught them.

Close

Grand Moff Tarkin's involvement in The Bad Batch season 3's ending was certainly interesting. Not only did he refer to Project Stardust in The Bad Batch, but he also retroactively created another heart-stopping moment in the finale. This moment came as he arrived on Wayland, as three Imperial Star Destroyers exited hyperspace above the Tantiss compound.

At first, this moment seems fairly routine. However, Tarkin's Star Destroyers leave hyperspace the second after Clone Force 99's shuttle leaves the planet. If the latter had left even a half-second later, they could have collided with Tarkin's Star Destroyers, or even been captured by the Imperial governor. This makes the moment much more nerve-wracking than it should have been, placing it in contention as one of the moments that caused hearts to skip a beat in The Bad Batch season 3's ending.

1 Adult Omega & Old Man Hunter

The Bad Batch season 3's epilogue was as heartwarming as it was surprising.

Close

After the battle of Tantiss, Clone Force 99 returns safely to Pabu. Wrecker, Hunter, Crosshair, and Omega contemplate a life without the shadow of the Empire looming above them now that Hemlock and his data on Project Necromancer are gone. While Echo departs to continue his work with Rex, the other four members of The Bad Batch finally settle down to live a life of peace as the show fades to black.

This was seemingly the final shot of the show, yet The Bad Batch's ending featured an epilogue. This epilogue featured an adult Omega and an old Hunter, as the former states she is not a child anymore and wishes to leave to fight in the Rebellion. This is a bittersweet ending and is suitably heart-stopping if only for seeing the characters age so drastically. Through this scene, Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 marks a satisfying ending to the adventures of Clone Force 99, all while setting up several more.
