Every PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, & Premium Game Available May 2024

Summary PS Plus May 2024 introduces EA Sports FC 24, Ghostrunner 2, Tunic, and Destiny 2: Lightfall on May 7 for all tiers.

Different styles of action in May's games cater to various preferences, from soccer simulation to cyberpunk fast-paced action.

Three of the PS Plus May 2024 offerings are available across both PS4 and PS5, while Ghostrunner 2 is PS5-only.

PlayStation Plus is getting some exciting new additions in May, allowing subscribers to pick up a variety of games and keep them as long as a subscription is active. A small selection of rotating monthly titles is available to download across all three tiers of the service, which offer varying degrees of benefits for different price points. On the more costly Extra and Premium tiers, May will also bring new entries to a more permanent catalog that consistently adds more games than it loses.

All PS Plus users also gain access to online play, which can be useful in the case of some of the free games that come with the subscription. There are always plenty of single-player options to enjoy as well, and the monthly lineups tend to focus on having a little something for everyone. This extends to cross-generation compatibility, as many PS Plus games are available on both the PS4 and PS5 platforms. This can sometimes have hiccups, like the recent troubles with the PS Plus version of the Fallout 4 next-gen update, but it's typically a seamless experience.

PS Plus May 2024 Games Have Different Kinds Of Action

From Sports To Isometric Action-Adventure

All the PS Plus May 2024 monthly games should be more than capable of getting the blood pumping, but they all go about it in different ways. EA Sports FC 24 is fairly self-explanatory for soccer fans, although the name change from the traditional FIFA branding can be a little confusing. Despite the rebrand, it's still the same series, so no amount of flaws or shortcomings stop EA Sports FC 24 from being the most iconic way to play the beautiful game on-screen.

Related "At A Certain Point, We Need Change": EA Sports FC 24 Review EA Sports FC 24 is a fine - even good - soccer simulation that just doesn't change anything in a meaningful way, making it forgettable.

Ghostrunner 2 is perfect for fast-paced action, although it definitely doesn't come without a learning curve. Like the first game, the gimmick is that one hit always kills, so the protagonist is a lot more fragile than in most high-octane games. Expanded options make it more accessible than its predecessor, but it could still be a thrill ride for veterans.

Challenge doesn't only come in the form of obviously gritty worlds, as Tunic can also pack a surprising punch. With strains of both classic 2D The Legend of Zelda games and Dark Souls combat, Tunic's adorable aesthetic shouldn't be taken as a sign that it's a casual game. Its thoughtful approach to puzzling out progress can be as engaging as the combat itself, so there's plenty to love here.

Destiny 2: Lightfall follows in a tradition of Destiny 2 expansions showing up on PS Plus. Like Ghostrunner 2, this one sets things in a cyberpunk city and focuses on fast-paced action. Unlike the other parts of the lineup, it's only of use to Destiny 2 players, but it's ultimately just a bonus for the strong PlayStation Plus May 2024 lineup of games.
