Ryan Gosling & Mikey Day Bring SNL’s Beavis & Butt-Head Sketch To Fall Guy Premiere, Interview “Emma Blarnt”

Summary Ryan Gosling dressed up as his character from the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch from his latest SNL appearance at The Fall Guy premiere, alongside Mikey Day.

The original sketch went viral online, partly due to the actors breaking character looking at their ridiculous costumes.

Their two characters also crashed Emily Blunt's red carpet interview and had some fun exchanges.

Ryan Gosling reprises his Saturday Night Live character on The Fall Guy red carpet, paying homage to Beavis and Butt-Head. Gosling has hosted the long-running NBC comedy show three times, but his most recent hosting gig in April, with musical guest Chris Stapleton, might be his most memorable yet. That's especially true because of a segment in which Gosling and SNL's Mikey Day played characters that looked strikingly like Beavis and Butt-Head without even realizing it. The sketch caught fire online, partly because Gosling and others, like cast member Heidi Gardner, could not stop laughing.

Gosling reunited with Day at the Los Angeles premiere of his upcoming movie The Fall Guy, and in a video shared by Universal, the two even crash Emily Blunt's red carpet interview.

It should be noted that Gosling did the standard red carpet walk earlier in the evening and posed for photos in a suit. But he then returned, dressed up as his instantly viral SNL character.

The Episode Had A Number Of Standout Sketches

According to NBCUniversal, Gosling's episode of SNL has the distinction of achieving the biggest seven-day audience since Billie Eilish hosted in December 2021. The episode, which aired on April 13, drew 8.9 million viewers after seven days. The episode likewise drew a 2.0 in the coveted 18-49 demographic. It also ranks as the most-watched episode of SNL ever on Peacock.

Along with the much-discussed Beavis and Butt-Head sketch, Gosling's episode had other memorable moments. There was a sequel to Papyrus, aptly titled Papyrus 2, which revisited the viral short from years earlier and explained why Gosling's character is so fixated on the font of the Avatar franchise. Along with his Fall Guy co-star Blunt, Gosling did a Barbenheimer riff on the Taylor Swift single "All Too Well," and he revived his long-running Close Encounters sketch with a cameoing Kate McKinnon.

Gosling, in that way, felt like an honorary cast member with his own recurring segments and sequel sketches. Although his tribute to one adult animated comedy staple from the 1990s got a lot of buzz due to the unexpected cast member laughter, the episode was an overall strong example of the reach that Saturday Night Live can still achieve with the right host and a few clever sketches.

Saturday Night Live season 49 airs 11:30 PM ET on NBC and steams on Peacock.
