Zynga's Star Wars: Hunters finally has a release date after years of delays​​​​​​. The arena shooter was announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation on February 17, 2021, and was originally planned for a release later that year, but this kept getting pushed back as Zynga wanted to ensure the game met expectations.

Star Wars: Hunters sees players forming teams of four to engage in third-person combat across a range of adventurous battlegrounds based upon iconic Star Wars worlds. There are several original characters created for the game who are inspired by classes and droids players should recognize from the Star Wars universe, with a roster comprised of heroes of the Rebellion, Imperial stormtroopers, droids, and more. The title is set to take place sometime between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, setting it somewhere between 5 ABY and 34 ABY on the Star Wars timeline.

As per a post by the official Zynga Star Wars X account, that accompanies a new trailer for the game, Star Wars: Hunters will launch on June 4, 2024. The title is free-to-play, and players can pre-download it now.

Star Wars: Hunters will be released on both Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch players who play the game at launch will unlock the exclusive Shift Veteran costume and Shift Blaster wrap.

Vicious Leap (Passive) - Rieve leaps forwards or towards an enemy, dealing damage where she lands. J-3DI Jedi Droid Damage Lightsaber Whirlwind (Ultimate) - J-3DI spins his lightsaber from his waist, damaging all enemies around him.

Faux Pull - J-3DI fires out his fist to pull a stunned enemy towards him.

Deflecting Stance - J-3DI uses his lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts back towards the attacker. Blocks melee attacks and physical projectiles.

Spare Parts (Passive) - As J-3DI takes damage, he sheds spare parts which can later be picked up by players to heal him. Utooni Jawa Scavengers Damage Pulse Blaster and Arc Caster Scrap Cannon (Ultimate) - Utooni assembles and pilots the Scrap Cannon, unleashing a highly damaging beam for a short time.

Switcheroo - Switches between the Pulse Blaster and Arc Caster.

Hands Off - Knocks back enemies, but also knocks Utooni back.

Ion Imploder - Throwable weapon that pulls enemies towards it.

Surprise! (Passive) - Utooni drops a Sonic Grenade when eliminated. Aran Tal Mandalorian Vanguard Damage N/A (Coming Soon) N/A (Coming Soon) Charr Trandoshan Trapper Tank Scatter Gun Ferocious Hunt (Ultimate) - Charr moves faster and pins enemies with melee attacks. Eliminating an enemy with Ferocious Hunt extends its duration.

Regen Booster - Charr heals himself and becomes Invulnerable. All incoming damage is converted to healing.

Snare Trap - Proximity trap that holds enemies in place.

Laser Tether - Charr attaches himself to an enemy, preventing them from moving away.

Dig In (Passive) - Charr digs his claws into the ground, reducing the effectiveness of knockbacks received. Sentinel Imperial Heavy Gunner Tank E-Web Heavy Repeater Empire's Finest (Ultimate) - Summons two additional stormtroopers as backup.

Combat Shield - Deploys a shield on the barrel of Sentinel's weapon. This can be activated and deactivated but improves weapon fire when active.

Suppressing Shot - Charged attack that knocks down enemies but consumes weapon heat.

Barrel Slam - Melee attack that knocks back enemies at close range. Grozz Wookie Juggernaut Tank Improvised Clubs Boulder Bash (Ultimate) - Grozz rips up the ground and throws a boulder that bounces around stunning and damaging enemies.

Stampede - Grozz charges forward, grabbing enemies and pushing others out of the way.

War Cry - Restores health.

Upheaval - Grozz slams his clubs on the ground, causing a shockwave that launches and slows enemies. Slingshot Droideka Speedster Tank Twin Blaster Cannons Rocket Stomp! (Ultimate) - Slingshot repeatedly jumps up and slam down, damaging and slowing enemies around him as he hits the ground.

Trickshot - Slingshot charges up and catapults forwards, damaging enemies and knocking them aside.

Unstable Shield - Slingshot surrounds himself with an Unstable Shield that explodes when destroyed or detonated.

Scatterbomb - Slingshot fires a hail of micro-rockets in front of him.

Rollout (Passive) - When unshielded and out of combat, Slingshot rolls at high speed, knocking enemies back upon contact. Sprocket Mon Calamari Prodigy Support Blaster Remotes Ultra Turret (Ultimate) - Sprocket assembles a huge turret that attacks enemies, prioritizing opponents marked with Targeting Drone. Targeting Drone - Reveals an enemy and increases the damage taken. Medical Droid - Deploys a droid with decaying health that heals nearby allies. Drone Defense - Defends both Sprocket and an ally, granting Damage Reduction to both. Turbocharged (Passive) - Sprocket gains a movement speed boost when put to critical health. Skora Rodian Sawbones Support Dart Gun Unstable Cocktail - Skora throws a large canister, creating a pool that heals allies and damages enemies.

Adrenaline Boost - Temporarily increases Skora's movement speed. Has 2 charges.

Stim-Shot - Provides temporary health to an ally.

Self-Heal (Passive) - Skora automatically heals herself when out of combat. Zaina Rebel War Hero Support Blaster Pistol Rallying Cry (Ultimate) - Gives allies in range a significant amount of temporary health. Bacta Bomb - Releases a burst of healing to Zaina and allies upon detonation. Dodge Roll - Roll to dodge incoming attacks. It has 2 charges, but Weapon Overheat resets when rolling. Combat Medic (Passive) - Zaina gives increased healing to allies with critical health.

There are confirmed to be several Hunter-specific quests, which can be unlocked by completing specific tasks. These will grant the specific Hunters unique cosmetics, so players can customize them to make them stand out in their team.

Star Wars: Hunters takes place on the planet Vespaara, a planet that has an aurora effect that creates the illusion of eternal twilight. The planet is host to around-the-clock Arena events, with a one-of-a-kind Hutt command ship looming over the battles. So far, five battlefields have been confirmed for the Arena, each inspired by a specific location from the Star Wars series.

Several Modes Have Been Announced Since 2021

Several main modes have been announced over the years for Star Wars: Hunters, and many of them should be familiar to those who have played similar online shooter titles, or the Star Wars: Battlefront series. These modes have objectives involving capturing and keeping Control Points, getting a certain number of kills, or retaining control of a droid. There is also the return of Huttball, a mode Star Wars: The Old Republic players should recognize from the MMO's PvP mode, which served as that game’s take on the traditional Capture the Flag multiplayer mode.

Star Wars: Hunters' modes are:

Mode Objective Squad Brawl The first team to reach 20 eliminations wins in this all-out assault mode Dynamic Control Teams compete to capture rotating Control Points. Power Control Squads battle to control the majority of Control Points on the battlefield. Trophy Chase Two teams aim to hold the Trophy Droid, named TR0-F33! The first squad to reach 100% wins the game. Huttball Rack up as many goals as possible.

Players will also be able to enter a Ranked match via the Ranked queue in the Game Mode screen, where they will play 1 of 3 game modes chosen randomly out of Squad Brawl, Dynamic Control, and Trophy Chase. Each Ranked Season will be a 7-week event where players will climb through a series of Leagues and Divisions by competing in competitive matches.
