Vanderpump Rules Season 12 Filming Postponed For These 2 Major Reasons

Summary A Vanderpump Rules season 12 filming delay offers much-needed relief for the exhausted cast members.

Having a break from Vanderpump Rules after Scandoval will help the cast recharge and create new storylines.

Ariana Madix's busy schedule is also impacting filming for Vanderpump Rules season 12.

The Vanderpump Rules cast has been put through the ringer for the last two seasons, so the latest announcement that filming for Vanderpump Rules season 12 has been delayed might give them a much-needed chance to breathe. Vanderpump Rules has always been known for the pure chaotic energy and drama brought by the aspiring actors and artists on the show, but Vanderpump Rules season 10's Scandoval was devastating for all of those involved. After Tom Sandoval cheated on Ariana Madix with their close friend Rachel "Raquel" Leviss, it was a surprise to see Ariana return to Vanderpump Rules.

Bravo is putting Vanderpump Rules on pause for the summer because the cast members need a bit of a break.

The cast of Vanderpump Rules is exhausted from the constant processing of the traumatic event that blew up their friend group. This has been obvious for those who produce the show, and now a source has told TMZ that Bravo is putting the reality show on pause for the summer. The network and those responsible for creating Vanderpump Rules feel that the cast members need a bit of a break since they're still dealing with the aftermath of Scandoval. The hope is that giving the cast a break and letting them live their lives organically will create more storylines.

Will Filming Delay Help Or Hurt Vanderpump Rules?

A Summer Break Is Needed For The Cast

There have been two seasons in the last year, which means the cast of Vanderpump Rules has not had a chance to fully sit with their feelings on their own in privacy and peace. The strain from Scandoval is becoming more apparent, and the energy has been slowly draining from Vanderpump Rules season 11. Understandably, Ariana does not want to film with Sandoval after the way he blew up their relationship and treated her horribly. This has given Sandoval a chance to do an "apology tour," although how successful this has been is up for debate.

Ariana has received a lot of opportunities in the wake of this tragic event in her life, for which she has taken on a "yes attitude." Ariana played Roxie Hart in Broadway's hit musical Chicago, which took her away from the turbulent home she was still sharing with Sandoval at the time. While the first reason Vanderpump Rules is taking a break is because the case needs to recharge, the second reason is because Ariana is going to be unable to film this summer. Ariana is replacing Sarah Hyland as the host of Love Island USA season 6.

The drama between Ariana and Sandoval has been overwhelming. It has taken up most of the spotlight, as it should, but they are not the only couple who's experiencing heartbreak and turmoil on Vanderpump Rules. Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz are two of the original cast members of Vanderpump Rules who eventually got married. However, their marriage was not all they thought it would be, and they ended their marriage in October 2022. Unlike Ariana and Sandoval, though, these two seem to be okay with filming together, and there might be sparks between them again.

There is no question that Vanderpump Rules badly needs a break from filming, but no one wants this to be a lengthy break like some other Bravo shows right now. Unfortunately, though, it is not entertaining to watch people who clearly cannot stand to be in the same room together because they have not had time to heal their wounds. However, some of the wounds may not be able to heal, which causes some concern for the future of the Vanderpump Rules. Only time will tell how this break affects the beloved (and not-so-beloved) cast members of Vanderpump Rules.

Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.
