Fans get clarification on Dazzler's mysterious immortality throughout her X-Men history, establishing limits to her powers.
With the Krakoan Resurrection Protocols apparently gone for good, Dazzler's healing abilities make her even more prominent among the X-Men.
Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Dead X-Men #4Neither the X-Men nor the Marvel Universe at large have a shortage of powerful healing factors. From icons like Wolverine and Deadpool to more underrated regenerators like Elixir or Triage, there are some mutants who are just notoriously hard to kill. And one of these shockingly durable heroes, the X-Men icon known as Dazzler, has finally had her mysterious healing abilities explained.
Dead X-Men #4 by Steve Foxe, David Baldeón, Bernard Chang, Vincenzo Carratù, Frank Martin, and VC’s Cory Petit once more pits the titular lineup against the cybernetic Moira MacTaggert variant, with Dazzler seemingly killed mid-fight. However, Alison Blaire soon reawakens, establishing the limitations of what was once thought to be limitless healing potential.
Regrouping with the team, Dazzler remarks, “Smashed to a pulp by Nimrod? Game over. Nasty flesh wound? Live to fight another day.” And with the suggestion that the ambient sonic energy has helped kickstart her latent healing, this establishes a clearer set of rules than Dazzler’s powers have ever had.

Dazzler’s Immortality Has Always Been A Mystery
Not Even The X-Men Icon Knew The Rules
Close
Established in 2005’s New Excalibur #1 by Chris Claremont and Michael Ryan, and continuing into series like X-Treme X-Men and A-Force, Dazzler’s resurrection powers have been a source of confusion for fans for years. The character herself has hardly had any more information than readers, as Alison’s been just as in the dark as the fans regarding the rules behind her revolving door to death. Dazzler and her teammates were all resurrected at the start of Dead X-Men by Rachel Summers. But even prior to that, her grisly end at the hands of the X-Men villain Nimrod seemed final, adding more confusion to the nature of her healing factor.
Dazzler has been a fan-favorite X-Man for decades, but the secrets behind her apparent immortality have long hung over the heads of her fans.
By clarifying the apparent rules behind her immortality, Dazzler has established the limits of her powers, giving readers a better idea of what to expect from the fan-favorite mutant musician. After all, this X-Men icon clearly isn’t powerful enough to bounce back from a total dismemberment by Nimrod, but a fatal wound that otherwise leaves the rest of her body intact is apparently more within her wheelhouse. And with the appropriate amount of sonic energy to absorb, Dazzler's healing factor quite literally means the difference between her life and death.
