While the Gold Star mystery and its significance are confirmed to continue, an official preview teases that the team will face “its biggest threat yet and cannot emerge unscathed from the mind-bending consequences.”

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1's finale saw Rossi saving himself. The BAU finds him after they take the villainous Voit into custody. However, not everything ends up being so neatly cleared up. Voit shoots and kills Doug Bailey, the deputy director, who tries to negotiate with the killer. Voit will be back in the upcoming season, as he negotiates a deal that transfers him back to federal custody, putting him right near the BAU.
