Frasier season 2 is officially underway, with Roz Doyle confirmed as a recurring character after her season 1 appearance. Debuting in October 2023 from showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, the revival follows Grammer's titular character shortly after the death of his father and the end of a long-term relationship. He returns to Boston to reconnect with his son Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott), now a firefighter. The cast of the new Frasier also includes Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, Anders Keith, and Nicholas Lyndhurst, with Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle and Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith in guest roles.

Paramount+ gives word that filming on Frasier season 2 is officially underway. Along with the news that Cheers co-creator and original Frasier director James Burrows will be back to direct two episodes of the reboot, it's confirmed that Gilpin will reprise her role as Roz in a recurring capacity.

The Frasier season 1 finale is a mixed bag for the titular character, as he struggles during his first Christmas without his father, Martin, who has passed away. It doesn't help that Frasier is looking through Martin's old belongings, which adds to his nostalgia and sense of loss. Hoping to turn the mood around, Frasier and Freddy agree to host a last-minute Christmas party. Freddy has another thing up his sleeve that might lift his father's spirits, which is a visit from Roz.

Being that Roz knew Martin well, she's able to understand the loss that Frasier feels more than most. Though her appearance is brief, it does help to lift the main character's spirits. While the revival mostly focused on Frasier's return to Boston, Roz's now confirmed recurring gives space to further explore what Gilpin's character has been up to in the years since the original Frasier ended and potentially build on a romance between Frasier and Roz.
