X-Men: Apocalypse's Post-Credits Scene is Finally Paid Off in Live-Action Sinister Cosplay

Summary Mister Sinister makes his live-action debut in a stunning cosplay by Jason Aulicino (@nerd_alert_cosplay), bringing a classic X-Men villain to life.

Cosplayer Jason Aulicino excels at custom designs for deep-cut comic characters, including this spot-on Mister Sinister adaptation.

Despite X-Men: Apocalypse's tease of Mister Sinister that never paid off, this cosplay finally gives this villain the justice fans have been waiting for.

In 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the film’s titular villain took on the X-Men and almost won, forcing the team to band together and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to save the day. In the movie’s post-credits scene, the introduction of Mister Sinister was hinted at but ultimately amounted to nothing, with a new set of cosplay images bringing Mister Sinister to life, finally paying off a tease that fans have waited to see in live-action for years.

A series of images recently posted on Instagram by Jason Aulicino (@nerd_alert_cosplay), this cosplay talent is all about creating custom designs of characters who need a little bit more care and attention to be brought to life properly in all their comic-accurate glory.

Previously dressing as other X-Men-related characters like Stryfe, the Starjammers’ Corsair, Erik the Red, Fabian Cortez, Archangel, Gambit, and more, Jason excels when adapting more deep-cut heroes and villains into the live-action space, with this Mister Sinister cosplay being no exception.

Mister Sinister Makes His Live-Action Debut In Marvel Cosplay Images

Cosplay Design By @nerd_alert_cosplay

Introduced in 1987’s Uncanny X-Men #221, by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri, Nathanial Essex, aka Mister Sinister, is a villain who specializes in genetic engineering and has used his skills to meddle, manipulate, and generally mess up humanity and the X-Men’s lives as best as he’s able. Hinted at during X-Men: Apocalypse’s post-credit scene when a shadowy man carrying an Essex Corp-labeled briefcase took samples of Wolverine’s blood after Logan murdered the entire staff within Weapon X’s facility, Mister Sinister has unfortunately not been given a true live-action just yet, with Jason’s cosplay finally changing that.

A homemade design seen across three different posts, it’s immediately made apparent how much work Jason has put into making Mister Sinister look as creepy and realistic as possible while adhering to a comic book design that’s as iconic as it is timeless. Dressed in Sinister’s signature blue and red armor/costume, it’s Jason’s incredibly accurate all-white face, red forehead diamond, flat-top haircut, and general villainous look and feel — as highlighted in the final image where Jason gives his best Mister Sinister cackle — that makes this cosplay sing, essentially calling the X-Men’s live-action adventures out for not doing Sinister justice.

X-Men: Apocalypse's Mister Sinister Tease Is Finally Realized In Cosplay Images

So while it remains to be seen if Mister Sinister will be part of the X-Men’s eventual MCU debut, Jason Aulicino (@nerd_alert_cosplay) proves here that when Nathanial Essex does eventually make his way to the silver screen, Marvel needs to take some cues from a cosplay design that nails the character’s best visual traits and then some. Mister Sinister never got his due after X-Men: Apocalypse’s post-credit scene, and luckily for fans, the creative talents in the cosplay community have finally made up for it.
