DC's New Legion of Zod Makes Superman's Nemesis More Powerful Than Ever Before

Warning! Spoilers for Kneel Before Zod #5 ahead!In his quest for vengeance, one of Superman's most powerful enemies has just gained a terrifying new army. General Zod has lost his home, his family, and all sense of purpose. But now, he's gaining a new crew that will help him make the entire DC Universe feel Zod's wrath.

In Kneel Before Zod #5 by Joe Casey and Dan McDaid, General Zod has been taken onboard a Kaffarian prison transport ship. Zod kills the Kaffarians running it and discovers the ship's manifest, listing all the prisoners on board.

Zod frees the inmates and immediately kills one who attempts to establish a hierarchy. Zod tells the inmates that he holds the switch to their inhibitor collars and activates it to show them he's in control of them. Zod also tells the prisoners that they are now the Legion of Zod and that they will enforce Zod's will on the universe.

General Zod Has Created a New Army with Alien Prisoners

Out to bring Kryptonian society back to life, General Zod conquered a planet in preparation for resurrecting the bottle city of Kandor. However, Zod made the mistake of casting out his son Lor-Zod into the universe. Lor-Zod was captured by the Khunds and informed them of General Zod's planet, causing them to attack. General Zod and his wife Ursa defended New Kandor, doing heavy damage to the Khunds' forces. Unfortunately, they were able to take Ursa's life. With his plans in ruins, Zod ventured out to kill the Khunds, which he did, but at the cost of sustaining heavy damage.

Before the Khunds invaded New Kandor, Zod was preparing one of the strongest military defenses in the DC Universe. He had a wave of Eradicator robots and genetically enhanced species to fill his ranks. But the Khunds destroyed all that, along with one of the few things tethering Zod to sanity. General Zod has nothing now except a desire for revenge against all who have wronged him. While he's intimidating enough on his own, now Zod has an army populated by, in his words, "thieves, murderers, [and] terrorists". Whatever dark plan Zod has, he's got the perfect army for it.

General Zod is Going to Unleash Hell on the DC Universe

General Zod's life has been majorly derailed. He's lost his wife, an unborn child, and the last remnants of the original Kandor. Zod isn't the kind of person to give up no matter the obstacles. He's still got enemies and he's going to make them pay by any means necessary. While his new army isn't as advanced as his previous one, they're a coterie of some of the worst criminals in space and Zod is most certainly going to use that to his advantage. Superman had better watch out because the Legion of Zod could be coming his way soon.
