The focus in season 2 may shift to the hambies who are trying to survive in what was left of Hyosan.

Despite the lack of updates on All of Us Are Dead season 2, there are plenty of reasons to be excited for the second season of the Netflix zombie K-drama. One of Netflix’s most popular Korean dramas, All of Us Are Dead premiered in January 2022 and became a global hit. Not much has been revealed about season 2, not even the release date, yet the end of season 1 offered enough clues to predict where All of Us Are Dead is heading next.

The horror K-drama told the story of a zombie outbreak that began at a school and followed the students as they tried to survive. All of Us Are Dead’s characters and twists made it more than just another zombie show, not to mention the exceptional action and fun new concepts like the hambies. From going beyond the source material to whether some of the most popular All of Us Are Dead theories will become true, season 2 sounds very exciting even though no trailers have been released.

8 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Have An Original Story

All of Us Are Dead already covered all of its webtoon

All of Us Are Dead is based on a webtoon called Now In Our School. The events of the first season followed the webtoon relatively closely, although with some important differences such as the origins of the virus and what happened to Nam-ra at the end of All of Us Are Dead. It’s important to note that All of Us Are Dead season 1’s finale matched the end of the webtoon, meaning there is no longer anything from the source material to be covered. In other words, All of Us Are Dead season 2 is expected to be an original story.

Even those familiar with the Now In Our School webtoon will not be able to predict what the next season will be like.

It's common for K-dramas based on a webtoon to eventually grow beyond their source material, especially when they return for other seasons. Although it is always interesting to compare a TV adaptation with the novel that inspired it, not knowing where All of Us Are Dead’s story is heading makes season 2 more exciting. Even those familiar with the Now In Our School webtoon will not be able to predict what the next season will be like. Sweet Home, which is another Netflix horror K-drama hit based on a webtoon, went through something similar in season 2.

7 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Introduce New Characters

The show needs new heroes and villains after season 1’s ending

Close

Although the cast of All of Us Are Dead season 2 remains to be confirmed, it is safe to say new characters will be introduced. A lot of characters died in All of Us Are Dead’s first season, from heroes to villains, making it difficult for the show to continue without introducing new names. The fact that the surviving protagonists are now living in a quarantine zone also supports the idea that new characters will be introduced, as there are plenty of other survivors there did not come from the school.

If All of Us Are Dead does something similar to what Sweet Home did, there will be plenty of new characters in season 2. Considering the show will no longer be following specific storylines from the source material, it will have more freedom to introduce characters that were not in the webtoon. Nam-ra’s hambie friends, for example, could be important players in All of Us Are Dead season 2. They were referenced at the end of season 1 but did not appear, teasing their return in the next season.

6 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Can Focus On The Hambies

Nam-ra has found other hambies

Close

All of Us Are Dead season 1’s finale focused a lot on Nam-ra and the hambies she has been living with, suggesting they will play a major role in the upcoming season. Hambies, or halfbies, are people who were infected with the Jonas virus but did not fully transform into zombies. It’s unclear what exactly makes a person turn into a hambie, but rage and will to survive seem to be involved. While hambies retain their consciousness and can even blend among regular humans, they have the same needs as regular zombies and can be a threat.

Related 7 All Of Us Are Dead Characters We Will Miss The Most In Season 2 All of Us Are Dead lived up to its name and killed a lot of characters in season 1, from heroes to villains, many of whom will be missed in season 2.

Despite trying to use her powers to protect her friends, Nam-ra almost hurt them a couple of times. This led her to abandon the group at the end of season 1 and go live out in the open. Fortunately, the end of season 1 revealed that Nam-ra had found her place in the world alongside other hambies. She even learned how to control her powers and no longer has the red mark around her eye. With season 1 ending right after Nam-ra reveals there are other hambies like her needing protection, this storyline will surely be important in season 2.

5 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Settle Whether Cheong-san Is Dead

Cheong-san’s fate is the show’s biggest mystery

Close

Whether Cheong-san is truly dead is All of Us Are Dead’s biggest mystery going into season 2. Cheong-san had his hero moment and sacrificed himself to stop Gwi-nam and save the others at the end of season 1, which made it seem like the character was gone for good. Both Cheong-san and Gwi-nam fell from a building right before the entire area was bombarded by the military. In normal circumstances, there would be no debate on whether Cheong-san is dead. Even On-jo’s nametag, which Cheong-san had with him, was covered in ashes.

However, there are some indications that Cheong-san could still be alive. Firstly, Gwi-nam bit Cheong-san at the beginning of their fight, which means the latter could have transformed into a hambie and survived due to his powers. Secondly, Cheong-san’s actor, Yoon Chan-young, was included in the announcement for All of Us Are Dead season 2. Lastly, Cheong-san is too big of a character not to return in the second season. Either way, this question will be settled when All of Us Are Dead premiers.

4 Nam-ra’s Arc Will Be Paid Off In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Nam-ra can be the “class president” of the hambies

Close

Nam-ra had arguably the best character arc in All of Us Are Dead, going from someone who could not make friends to earning her “class president” nickname. Before the outbreak, Nam-ra was only ironically referred to as “class prez” since she had little to no connections to the other students and only became class president because of her parents’ influence. However, by the end of the show, Nam-ra had built a strong friendship with On-jo and the rest of the group. She also saw herself in a relationship with Su-hyeok.

Su-hyeok and Nam-ra survived, but she cannot live with him in the quarantine zone.

All of Us Are Dead made an important change to Nam-ra’s ending from the webtoon. Rather than having her as the key to creating a vaccine like in the source material, All of Us Are Dead’s finale brought Nam-ra back as some sort of leader to the homeless hambies. Therefore, season 2 can pay off Nam-ra’s “class president” arc and have her become the leader of her own group. All of Us Are Dead could now be about protecting hambies from the military, thus continuing the show’s themes of how humans can be more dangerous than zombies.

3 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Go Beyond The School Setting

Hyosan High has been destroyed

Close

While little is known about All of Us Are Dead season 2’s story, it is safe to say the show will no longer be set in a school, as Hyosan High was destroyed at the end of the first season. This helps explain why All of Us Are Dead did not go with the webtoon’s original title – Now In Our School would not make sense once Hyosan High was destroyed. Most of All of Us Are Dead season 1 was set in the school, with the only exceptions being the scenes focused on the military or On-jo’s father.

Now that the school is no more, All of Us Are Dead is set to be a very different show compared to season 1. The idea of several characters having to survive the first few hours of a zombie outbreak while trying to leave the school and go somewhere safe cannot be replicated, nor should it be. It will be interesting to see what the conflict will be in All of Us Are Dead now considering that, by the end of season 1, the characters were relatively safe in the quarantine zone.

2 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Can Give The Couples A Happy Ending

None of the main couples got a happy ending in season 1

Close

All of Us Are Dead may be a horror K-drama first and foremost, but it also includes two important love stories. After flirting with a potential love triangle that fortunately did not move forward, All of Us Are Dead established its two main couples – On-jo and Cheong-san, and Nam-ra and Su-hyeok. Their storylines were quite different, but neither couple received a happy ending. Cheong-san confessed his feelings to On-jo and they even kissed, yet the former had to sacrifice himself to save the latter. Su-hyeok and Nam-ra survived, but she cannot live with him in the quarantine zone.

If Cheong-san is alive, he and On-jo will certainly find each other eventually.

All of Us Are Dead’s main couples will not be together at the beginning of season 2 based on how the first season ended, but that does not mean it’s all doomed for them. If Cheong-san is alive, he and On-jo will certainly find each other eventually. Likewise, while Nam-ra seems to have more important things to handle now, she is in control of her powers and can reconnect with Su-hyeok and the rest of the group.

1 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Premiere After Years Of Waiting

Whenever it premiers, season 2 will have arrived after years of waiting

Close

The most exciting thing about All of Us Are Dead season 2 will be revising the show after years of waiting. Assuming All of Us Are Dead does not return in 2024, more than three years will have passed by the time the new season comes out. All of Us Are Dead season 2 was announced on June 22, a few months after the show’s debut on Netflix. Since then, the only piece of promotional material for season 2 has been an announcement video featuring the main cast.

Related All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Release Date Wait Is Actually Good News For Netflix’s Zombie K-Drama All of Us Are Dead season 2 will premiere more than two years after season 1, but such a long wait is actually good for the zombie K-drama’s story.

It’s not uncommon for K-drama web series to take too long to return, though. For example, Squid Game season 2 premiers in 2024, around three years after the first season. Another example is Sweet Home, whose second season premiered exactly three years after the first one. Hopefully, All of Us Are Dead season 2 will be worth the wait and will bring back everything that made the first season so good while also adding something new to it.
