Whether Cheong-san is truly dead is All of Us Are Dead’s biggest mystery going into season 2. Cheong-san had his hero moment and sacrificed himself to stop Gwi-nam and save the others at the end of season 1, which made it seem like the character was gone for good. Both Cheong-san and Gwi-nam fell from a building right before the entire area was bombarded by the military. In normal circumstances, there would be no debate on whether Cheong-san is dead. Even On-jo’s nametag, which Cheong-san had with him, was covered in ashes.

However, there are some indications that Cheong-san could still be alive. Firstly, Gwi-nam bit Cheong-san at the beginning of their fight, which means the latter could have transformed into a hambie and survived due to his powers. Secondly, Cheong-san’s actor, Yoon Chan-young, was included in the announcement for All of Us Are Dead season 2. Lastly, Cheong-san is too big of a character not to return in the second season. Nam-ra had arguably the best character arc in All of Us Are Dead, going from someone who could not make friends to earning her “class president” nickname. Before the outbreak, Nam-ra was only ironically referred to as “class prez” since she had little to no connections to the other students and only became class president because of her parents’ influence. However, by the end of the show, Nam-ra had built a strong friendship with On-jo and the rest of the group. She also saw herself in a relationship with Su-hyeok.

All of Us Are Dead made an important change to Nam-ra’s ending from the webtoon. Rather than having her as the key to creating a vaccine like in the source material, All of Us Are Dead’s finale brought Nam-ra back as some sort of leader to the homeless hambies. Therefore, season 2 can pay off Nam-ra’s “class president” arc and have her become the leader of her own group.
