Summary The Simpsons co-showrunner Al Jean expects many more years of the show.

Jean expects to see the show cross the 800 episode milestone and hopes it will eventually reach 1,000.

There are still over 200 more episodes before The Simpsons can reach 1,000 episodes.

If its co-showrunner is right, The Simpsons should have a long and bright future ahead of it. The show, which was created by Matt Groening, began in 1989. It was a spin-off from The Tracey Ullman Show's shorts and follows a small family living in a typical cartoon sitcom. It has become the longest-running American sitcom, and the show may very well go on for years to come.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, co-showrunner Al Jean explained that he sees many more years of The Simpsons ahead. Though season 35 is coming to an end, The Simpsons season 36 has already been renewed. Jean believes that the show will reach more milestones going forward. He hopes to reach episode 1,000, which would mean over 200 more episodes. Check out his full quote below:

We did have to just take a break for four months because of the strike, which I'm glad we did, that was what we should have done. But I think the show is in fantastic shape. I'm biased, but I think that the current episodes are, whether I work on one, a lot or not, are great. And I think that the future is bright, it's gonna go to 800, and I hope 1000.
