A Star Wars cosplayer perfectly replicated Princess Leia's Return of the Jedi "Huttslayer" look by making adjustments that honor Leia (and Carrie Fisher). Although Leia has many well-known looks in Star Wars movies and TV shows, including her iconic space buns that are also frequently worn in cosplays, her costume from the scene in which she was chained to Jabba the Hutt—sometimes called her 'slave outfit'—is one of the most often referenced. Unfortunately, Fisher had expressed disliking the outfit multiple times, making one of the character's most remembered looks a bit complicated. However, one cosplayer had a solution.

The cosplayer and content creator magicwithmeg, whose platform includes a range of Disney content, though much of it focused on Star Wars, recreated Princess Leia's look with an important twist. Rather than a 'slave outfit,' the cosplay referenced Leia being a 'huttslayer' and included pants and a top with more coverage than the original costume.

These changes in the cosplay show a great deal of respect for Princess Leia and the complex history of her outfit in Return of the Jedi, which is reflective of the character's larger arc in the Star Wars timeline as well.

Princess Leia is undoubtedly one of Star Wars' best characters, and her prominence in the franchise has only grown with time. In truth, Leia was incredible from the very beginning. In A New Hope, she was introduced as a brave Rebel who was concealing plans from the Empire and going toe-to-toe with Darth Vader and Governor Tarkin. Even when her planet was about to be destroyed in front of her, with her family and all her people still on it, she refused to betray the Rebellion and reveal what she did with the plans she had sent off with R2-D2.

Her bravery persisted throughout the original trilogy, as she fought the Empire and, yes, slayed Jabba the Hutt. However, Leia's history is complicated, and not just because of the Huttslayer outfit. Fisher frequently delighted in mentioning that George Lucas had originally told her certain undergarments weren't in space, although that changed over time, and there wasn't ill will between the two. Even so, it was in part reflective of Fisher's position as one of few women in the original trilogy and the love interest of two characters—one of whom infamously ended up being retconned as her brother.

Since then, Princess Leia has become a very powerful, slightly different character in the franchise. In the sequel trilogy, the princess became General Leia Organa, and the hints that she had the Force in the original trilogy were canonized, with Leia even acting as Rey's Jedi master. Other Star Wars projects, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, have also fleshed out the character with new actresses playing Leia. While Princess Leia's strength and bravery in the original Star Wars trilogy can't be denied, her character development and this cosplay perfectly represent how much the character has grown.
