Interview With The Vampire Season 3: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
Summary AMC hasn't renewed Interview with the Vampire for a third season yet, possibly due to audience decline.
Season 3 might explore Anne Rice's sequel books like The Vampire Lestat for new storylines.
Season 3 cast likely includes returning characters like Louis, Lestat, Claudia, and Daniel Molloy.
Anne Rice's classic book series has come back to life on the small screen in AMC's Interview with the Vampire, but will the show return for a third season? Based on the eponymous novel from 1976, Interview with the Vampire concerns an ancient blood-sucker named Louis who decides to tell his afterlife story to an eager journalist. The twists and turns of Louis life make for a gripping tale, and Rice's trademark mix of horror and romance has kept viewers enthralled across two seasons.
AMC's show isn't the first time that Interview with the Vampire has been adapted, and it found great success in 1994 with a feature film of the same name starring Tom Cruise. The first two seasons of Interview with the Vampire have adapted its namesake, but the story is quickly exhausting the 1976 book. If Interview does come back for a third season on AMC, it will most likely delve into Rice's many sequels that continue the macabre tale. Nothing is confirmed yet, but the return of Interview with the Vampire seems like a foregone conclusion at this point.

AMC Hasn't Renewed The Show Yet

With the second season still so fresh in the minds of fans, it comes as no surprise that AMC hasn't renewed Interview with the Vampire for a third season yet. The immense popularity of Rice's books spurred AMC to renew the show before season 1 even premiered, but that luxury hasn't been extended to season 3 quite yet. This isn't a shock since the lengthy delay between the first and second seasons might have chipped away at the show's large audience for season 1.
Interview with the Vampire season 2 currently airs Sundays on AMC and AMC+.
The show, like many others, was derailed by the Hollywood strikes of 2023. This resulted in Interview with the Vampire missing its originally scheduled return time, and it took quite a few months for it to get back on track. Only time will tell if that actually has an effect on the sophomore season, but it is the most likely reason for AMC's reticence to promptly renew the vampire program for another outing. However, if viewers do come back in droves, there's little doubt that Interview with the Vampire season 3 will get the green light to proceed.
Interview With The Vampire Season 3 Cast
Will Louis & Lestat Return?
Close
The cast of Interview with the Vampire season 3 will depend largely on what direction the story takes. It's likely that season 2 will expend all of the material in the eponymous book, which means it could move on to the sequel. The Vampire Lestat was published in 1985 and follows the titular character almost exclusively as his side of the story is told. If the show goes in this direction, Sam Reid will likely reprise his role as Lestat de Lioncourt.
On the other hand, the show could diverge from the Ann Rice novel and allow for familiar characters like Jacob Anderson's Louis de Pointe du Lac to play a larger role for continuities sake. Other likely returns include Delainey Hayles as the forever-youthful vampire Claudia, and she assumed the role in season 2 after Bailey Bass departed. If the show wants to preserve the interview format, Eric Bogosian could return as journalist Daniel Molloy as well.
The presumptive cast of Interview with the Vampire season 3 includes:
Actor Interview With The Vampire Role Jacob Anderson Louis de Pointe du Lac Sam Reid Lestat de Lioncourt Delainey Hayles Claudia Assad Zaman Armand Eric Bogosian Daniel Molloy

Interview With The Vampire Season 3 Story Details
Season 2 Could Adapt The Vampire Lestat
Since season 2 of Interview with the Vampire will conclude its namesake novel, the next season will need to move on, presumably to the sequel books. The follow-up to Interview is called The Vampire Lestat and sees Lestat awaken after a centuries-long sleep in the modern day where he learns about Louis expose book. Determined to set the story straight, Lestat begins to tell his own story while also becoming a famous member of a rock band.
As quintessentially 1980s as the premise sounds, Interview with the Vampire season 3 could use The Vampire Lestat's basic framework with some minor changes along the way. Lestat could return to the modern day, and could seek out Molloy in order to tell his story in contrast to Louis' version. This would allow the familiar characters to return while also preserving the general structure that Interview with the Vampire has used across its first two seasons.
