Power Rangers Cosplay Cover Confirms Which Ranger Is Rita Repulsa's Greatest Enemy
Summary Rita Repulsa despises all Power Rangers, but the original Pink Ranger, Kimberly Ann Hart, is her most hated rival.
Kimberly's actions in the comics have a lasting impact, forcing Rita to send herself into the Morphin Grid for survival.
Unlike other Power Rangers, Kimberly's actions create a monumental shift in her universe, leading to new evil challenges.
Warning: Spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return! One piece of cosplay cover art subtly reveals which of the Power Rangers is Rita Repulsa's worst enemy. Truthfully, Rita Repulsa carries scorn for every single one of the Mighty Morphin crew. Those meddlesome teenagers with attitude would foil her plans for world domination every single week, so she naturally has contempt for all of them. However, one Ranger is especially a burr in her saddle.
Miguel Mercado's variant cover art for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #4 by Amy Jo Johnson, Matt Hoston, and Nico Leon reveals Rita Repulsa having a staredown with someone who might be her most hated rival: Kimberly Ann Hart aka the original Pink Ranger. The cosplay cover can be viewed below.
The cover art depicts a staredown between the Pink Ranger and the Empress of Evil. Whether it's done intentionally or not, the staredown showcases just how bitter a feud Kimberly and Rita have had over the years, especially in the midst of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return.
The Pink Power Ranger is Rita Repulsa's Worst Enemy
Why Rita Hates Kimberly More Than Any Other Power Ranger
The Pink Ranger and Rita Repulsa have had a handful of significant interactions across both the show and the Power Rangers comics. Audiences will recall Kimberly being primed by Lord Zedd to be the next Rita in the episode "Beauty and the Beast," for example, but their most notable moments together take place in the comics, specifically in the confines of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return. In this series, Kimberly is able to do what none of the Rangers in the official canon have done before or since: kill Rita Repulsa.
Granted, the Pink Ranger does not permanently kill Rita. On the brink of death, Rita is forced to send herself into the Morphin Grid (not unlike what she does to Zordon, trapping him in a time warp) as a last-ditch means of survival. Not only that, but the repercussions of Kimberly's actions are grand enough to spawn a new generation of evil in the form of Rita's daughter, Selena Repulsa, who returns for revenge.
What Separates Kimberly from Other Power Rangers?
She's Affected Rita in Ways No One Else Has
The only other Power Ranger to come close to this feat is Tommy Oliver in the Coinless universe, where he kills Rita Repulsa to conquer the world alone as Lord Drakkon. Arguably, though, Drakkon's kill isn't nearly as impactful, as he still would have had to conquer the world if he opted to share with Rita. What Kimberly did to Rita in her "what if?" universe, though, createS a monumental domino effect in her universe. None of the Power Rangers produces such a drastic shift in their world or impact on Rita Repulsa quite like the Pink Ranger.
