On May 2, 2024, CBS announced that Survivor 47 would be part of their fall line-up. The network also revealed that, much like Survivor seasons 45 and 46, Survivor season 47 would continue airing 90-minute episodes. The super-sized Survivor episodes, which have been very popular with fans, appear to be here to stay.

Though CBS didn't announce an official premiere date for Survivor 47, past seasons can offer a clue. Fall seasons of Survivor have always debuted during the last two weeks of September. Assuming the show remains in its usual Wednesday night lineup position, Survivor 47 could premiere as early as Wednesday, Sept. 25, or as late as Wednesday, October 2.

Though it is unknown when Survivor 47 was filmed, the season will continue with the "new era" tradition of 26 days of game play, rather than the 39 days of the first 40 seasons.

In 2020, CBS announced that it would institute new diversity casting rules for its unscripted shows.
