Boba Fett Just Got New Mandalorian Armor, In The Most Surprising Way
Summary Boba Fett's armor may have a new design featured in The Simpsons, with notable changes.
Boba's appearance in The Simpsons could be based on an unreleased design and potentially hint at future plans for the character.
It's unlikely that Boba's new armor will be unveiled any time soon, as it seems the franchise doesn't have many plans for his character.
Boba Fett's Mandalorian armor is one of his most iconic characteristics, and Star Wars may have just debuted a new redesign of his armor in an unlikely place. Boba Fett is one of the best bounty hunters in Star Wars, and he's been one of the most iconic characters from the Star Wars movies ever since his first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back. He became so popular that he returned after his apparent death for The Mandalorian and even his own spinoff show, The Book of Boba Fett. Now, his iconic look might have changed.
The Simpsons recently released a Star Wars episode on May 4, and it featured cameos from several characters from across the galaxy. One of those cameos was Boba Fett, and, as pointed out in a post by user sheevthan, his armor looked quite different from his other appearances.
As the post noted, Boba's armor in The Simpsons featured several small changes to its classic design, including added details to his shoulder pauldrons and spike decals above his helmet's visor. It's possible that The Simpsons, which is owned by Disney, used an unreleased redesign of Boba's armor, as none of his appearances in the original trilogy or newer Star Wars shows perfectly match up with these new changes. It seems The Simpsons might have given a glimpse into how Boba Fett could have looked at some point.
Will We Ever See Boba Fett's New Mandalorian Armor?
Close
If Boba Fett's appearance in The Simpsons was in fact based off an unused redesign, it begs the question of whether this version of his armor could ever make its way into Star Wars canon. It's possible that such a design was made for The Book of Boba Fett and simply didn't make it into the first season. That show already gave Boba's armor a new coat of paint, so it's possible there were other changes planned for future seasons. Disney may be subtly introducing the redesign ahead of a larger project, though that seems rather improbable.
Boba's armor may not debut any time soon, as The Book of Boba Fett season 2 now seems highly unlikely, partly due to how poorly received it was. That reception was so bad, in fact, that it actually soured many viewers on the entire character. That has left Boba in a strange place, where Star Wars doesn't have a clear plan for his future. There were plenty of places Boba could have returned if the franchise still had plans for him, such as The Mandalorian season 3 or The Bad Batch season 3, but none of those opportunities were taken.
Yet another reason Boba's armor is unlikely to appear any time soon is that it seems Din Djarin has replaced Boba Fett as Star Wars' favorite bounty hunter. With his role as the franchise's cool, mysterious gunslinger filled by a new character with his own upcoming movie in the form of The Mandalorian & Grogu, there may not be space for Boba anymore. While there is a chance Boba Fett could get a new set of armor in the future of Star Wars, there's not much hope it will be any time soon.
