EXCLUSIVE: Rick and Morty Are Running for President

Summary Rick and Morty run for president in a high-stakes election against President Curtis in the universe-shaking Finals Week event.

Doofus Rick and Jerry team up to challenge President Curtis, as Rick sets out to prove even the worst version of him could run the country.

It's all building to "the most important, unmissable event in Rick and Morty comics history."

The presidency is up for grabs as Rick and Morty run for high office this August! The upcoming chapter of the major Finals Week event will see Rick once again clash with President Andre Curtis, trying to get his alternate-reality doppelgänger Doofus Rick elected to America's highest office (with Jerry along for the ride as Vice-President.)

Oni Press' Rick and Morty Finals Week is a new event series taking place across a single week in Rick and Morty's life, building up to a major twist that's being billed as "the most important, unmissable event in Rick and Morty comics history." Each 'day' sees Rick and Morty on a standalone adventure, taking place as Morty attempts to simultaneously survive Rick's adventures and pass his finals.

With Oni Press pulling out all the stops for Rick and Morty Finals Week, it's genuinely possible Earth may be looking at a new president.

Introduced in season 1's 'Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind,' Doofus Rick has the bad luck of being the least intelligent Rick in the multiverse, making him an object of mockery to his genius peers. Of course, as Rick's near-opposite, Doofus Rick immediately struck up a friendship with Jerry, which will apparently see the Smith family patriarch included in his campaign. Taking place within the show's official continuity, it will be interesting to see the consequences of Rick challenging the President's power, given he had to fake being replaced by another Rick the last time they truly came to blows.

So far, Rick and Morty Finals Week has delivered on the promise of great self-contained adventures building to a larger finale, effectively acting as a season of the show in comic-book form. Rick and Morty Finals Week: Contested Convention #1 embodies that idea even more closely, involving classic characters in the Smith Family's home reality.
