Star Wars' Jar Jar Binks Actor Wants To Make The "Jedi John Wick" Movie
Summary Ahmed Best's ultimate Star Wars idea involves a John Wick-style movie with Jedi Kelleran Beq, focusing on intense lightsaber fights.
Jedi rarely get to showcase their fighting skills due to the Jedi Code, but a post Order 66 storyline could explore their ruthless side.
Best aims to highlight Filipino martial arts and unleash the full potential of Jedi warriors in a new Star Wars adventure.
Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq actor Ahmed Best shares his ultimate Star Wars movie idea, centered around both John Wick and the Jedi. Portrayed by Keanu Reeves, the character John Wick has become a new standard for the ultimate action hero, given his history as a hitman for the criminal underworld. These elements would be nothing new to the Star Wars galaxy, seeing as bounty hunters and crime syndicates have been portrayed in the franchise ever since The Empire Strikes Back, but Best's new movie idea takes things a step further by focusing this energy on the Jedi.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Best reveals that his biggest wish is to do a John Wick style movie with his Jedi Kelleran Beq, who recently re-emerged in The Mandalorian season 3 as the Jedi who saves Grogu from the Jedi Temple during Order 66. Much of this desire comes from Best's love for Kelleran's style of fighting, which is deeply rooted in Filipino martial arts. He wants "to do two hours of lightsabers and people in the way," because "the fight that I did for Mandalorian is 1/10th of 1% of what I could do. And there's so much more."

The Jedi Aren't Often Given Chances to Show Off Their Fighting Skills in Such a Way
Close
While the Jedi have certainly been at the heart of Star Wars ever since the beginning, they have not always had the chance to show off all their skills - mostly due to their strict Jedi Code. With the Jedi acting as peacekeepers for the galaxy and, later on, the Galactic Republic specifically, they were not keen on going into battle unless it was absolutely necessary. Even then, they still withheld much of their abilities in favor of only doing what had to be done, and to avoid falling to the dark side by summoning too much power from the Force.
This is what Best wants to draw upon; taking the action and skill set of someone like John Wick and applying it to the Jedi.
After Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi, however, it would be reasonable that any Jedi survivors would embrace ruthlessness in favor of survival. Seeing as Kelleran Beq is now a confirmed survivor of Order 66, it's very possible for Star Wars to make a John Wick style story centered around him and his struggle to stay alive, which would reasonably see the Jedi cut down people in the way Best suggests. Kelleran will also likely serve as Grogu's protector for a time, which would necessitate this kind of behavior from him even more.
While Star Wars: The Clone Wars did offer viewers a look at the Jedi as fierce soldiers during the war, there will always be a desire to see these skilled warriors at their fullest potential. This is what Best wants to draw upon; taking the action and skill set of someone like John Wick and applying it to the Jedi. This would also be a chance to highlight Filipino martial arts even more, which would add to the wonderful ways in which Star Wars has already taken after real-world warriors in its stories set far, far away.
