The 61-year-old former The Golden Bachelor contestant had become a fan favorite early on in the dramatic season of Gerry Turner. Joan is a school administrator from Rockland, Maryland being chosen as the spin-off’s lead ends months of speculation that the first ever Golden Bachelorette was going to be Theresa Nist or Leslie Fhima. Fans will recall that Joan had eliminated herself during week three of the reality TV show when her daughter faced a medical emergency.

According to Reality Steve’s recent podcast episode where he discussed Joan being announced as The Golden Bachelorette, the blogger also had a few comments to make about the show’s filming status. “Now they haven’t even started filming it yet,” he revealed.
